Coffee has been a part of the West Covina community for over 125 years. The first coffeehouses were opened in 1868, and many more followed in the ensuing years. Today, there are several coffee shops located in and around West Covina, as well as numerous cafés that serve coffee from different origins and roasts. Some of the most well-known local cafes include Starbucks, Peet's Coffee, Dutch Bros., and Dunkin' Donuts. In addition to its namesake town square (home to several stores selling coffee), West Covina also boasts a number of parks that offer seating for customers during lunchtime or evening hours. The history of Tactical Coffee began with founder Dave Cavanaugh's passion for quality cup of Joe. After moving to Los Angeles in 1984 from his native Connecticut, Cavanaugh started up his own business - Black & Decker - which specialised in making high-quality espresso drinks at home. He soon decided that he wanted to open his own café where people could enjoy their morning cups of Joe without having to leave their homes or go out into the streets. At first glance, Tactical Coffee appears nothing like any other Los Angeles cafe; it is an unassuming small storefront on First Street near downtown Los Angeles. However, inside you'll find one of the most popular locations in all of LA: insideramscove — a gallery/restaurant sandwiched between two boutiques on Second Avenue). It wasn't long before word spread about this unique spot and Everyone's favorite beaner started receiving feedback from visitors who loved how delicious and fresh the coffee was every single time! In 2001 tacticalcoffee moved into its current location on 25th Street between Main Street and Western Boulevard just north of Target shopping center – perfect for anyone looking for great value caffeine alternatives close by! In 1912, one of these businesses - The Coffee House - was bought by Julius Rosenwald and renamed Rosenwald Coffee & Tea Company. This company continued to roast and serve coffee until it was sold to Starbucks in 1997.

Tactical coffee was first popularized in the 1960s by Commander David Hackett, a United States Marine Corps officer and commander of Naval Forces Central Command.Hackett's book, "Ground Rules for Combat Coffee," which is now in its fourth edition, introduced the concept of using small cups or T-shaped mugs to deliver coffee from a cup holder to an infantry soldier on the battlefield.Hackett's book also advocated using smaller doses of caffeine than what is traditionally used in commercial coffee products.
West Covina is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 118,824 at the 2010 census. It is located on the border of unincorporated portions of Orange and Los Angeles counties. The first permanent settler in what would become West Covina was George W. Carden in 1871, who built a cabin on the western edge of present-day Covina. A post office called Covina was established in 1875, and remained in operation until 1914. In 1888, William Halsey founded the First Western Electric Telephone Company in Covina with his brother-in-law Amos Kendall. The company became one of America's largest telephone companies and served localized communities throughout Southern California before it went public in 1899. In 1906, West Covina got its own fire department after dual efforts bycity officials and citizens led by Mayor James Waddell to create such an entity for residents east of center city boundaries (the original subdivisions) following outbreaks of fires at other cities near then Newly opened oil fields across Pasadena and Industry Centers area; these were also brush fires that burned for days starting on November 5th which destroyed several homes out west near Century City’s Crenshaw Boulevard intersection In 1970–1971, the city increased its tax base through annexations from neighboring cities: North Hollywood annexed from neighboring Echo Park; Encino annexed from Carson City; Downey annexed from Hawthorne; Norwalk annexation from Santa Monica Hills; Templeton annexed from Huntington Beach; Lancaster annexed from Riverside Heights etc., thus adding another municipality to serve as part of a rapidly growing downtown core that included high schools (Encino/Hollywood Hills), hospitals (Lancaster/San Gabriel Valley), shopping malls (Downey/Norwalk), professional offices (West Covina/Orange County) and large housing developments including Pershing Square Gardens Tower Village II – now known as One LA Center –[and] Levittown.[1][2] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. With only .5% being water bodies,[3] this makes it one of most dry major U S cities outside Phoenix or Las Vegas
In 1814, the Mexican government granted Rancho Santa Susana to Jose Antonio Costa. The land was located on the present day corner of West Covina and North Covina streets in what is now the city of Los Angeles. In 1847, José Antonio Costa died and his nephew Manuel Costa took over the property. In 1861, manuelCosta married Maria Luisa Peralta and they purchased more land including what is now West Covina. On October 5, 1881, it was incorporated as a town in Los Angeles County by an act of Congress.
