In 1974, The Risen Coffee Company was bought by Peet's Coffee Corporation, which continues to roast its own beans today.
West Sacramento, California is a city in and the county seat of Sacramento County, California. The population was 113,553 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Central Valley on the north bank of the Sacramento River. The area that would become West Sacramento was first settled by Native Americans in 1847 as part of Rancho Rinconada de los Cahuilla. In 1851, it became part of what is nowSacramento County. The town began to grow rapidly after completion of new railroads through the area in 1860 and 1870. A flour mill was built in West Sacramento in 1865 and soon became one of the largest employers in town. The mill closed down around 1930 but its remnants can still be seen today along with a few other buildings from that time such as an old Baptist church and hotel which were also used for housing during prohibition years (1937-1946). A post office was established at West Sacramento in 1870, and evolved into a small town over time with many businesses opening up including groceries, dry goods, banking services, carriages/wagons made out of steel or iron for transportation, sawmills and grist mills. By 1906 there were over 100 residents living within 1 mile (2 km) of downtown west sacramento. In 1924 local voters approved annexation by East Sacramental Parish; this event helped solidify community ties between east sacramentoans and west sacramentoans while also creating jobs for both populations within westernSacramento County whenEast SacramentalParish merged into the newly formed Sacramento City Unified School District (SKUSD) on Jan 1st 1972 In 2006 voters passed Proposition 108 which doubled the size of city limits from 25 square miles to 50 square miles making West Sacramento one millionth person since incorporation . On Nov 8 2006 Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced plans to annex additional land eastward to make room for more homesites adjacent to Interstate 5 so construction could begin on a massive freeway project known as “I-5 Overpass” that will completely surround West SacramentO with only surface streets running through it

West Sacramento (formerly Auburn) is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 34,857 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Sacramento River and it lies just east of the Golden State border. It is also home to Menlo Park University and much of its economy rests on agricultural production. Avery's childhood dream was to own a farm so he could provide food for his family and give back to society as much as possible. Avery attended Menlo Park High School before going on to attend UC Berkeley where he earned a degree in Agricultural Sciences in 1966. Avery then worked for 14 years with Shell Oil Company before coming home to start his own business in 1984 which became known as West Sacramento Grain Commission Incorporated which still operates today. He was also elected Mayor of West Sacramento twice and has been an active member of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors since 1994 when he first won election as a Supervisor. In recent years, West Sacramento has become one of Silicon Valley’s most vibrant cities with high-tech companies like Google, Apple and Facebook headquartered thereabouts. Many new businesses have sprung up in this growing community such as Jardine Research & Consultants LLP which has its headquarters adjacent to Menlo Park University; Emerson College; Kapor Center for Interactive Journalism; Sutter Health System; First Baptist Church; CSN Bay Area Media Networks (CSN Bay Area); Boeing Co.; Schneider Electric NV; Carl Icahn Communications Corporation; GOOGL plc.; CalPERS PG&ECoastal Water District NoCalWater Services Division . The City Councilwoman who represents District 8 is Lori Hannah and her husband Randy Hannah are both represented by councilmembers Donny Hargrave (District 5) and Teresa Herrera (District 3).
The area now known as West Sacramento was first populated in the early 1800s, when the Sacramento Valley was part of Mexico. The first European to visit the area was Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza, who explored the valley in 1821. The United States acquired California in 1848, and the U.S. military built Fort credit along the Truckee River to protect American settlers from Mexican forces. In 1861, during America's Civil War, General John Sutter founded what is now called Sutter's Mill on Lake Oroville near West Sacramento. This mill provided food for army troops and local civilians and helped create a new industry in the region - flour production. The mill closed in 1923 after becoming too expensive to maintain. Beginning in 1950, West Sacramento began developing into a major transportation center due to its location at an intersection of Interstate 5 and State Route 99. Today, West Sacramento is one of Northern California's most economically vibrant cities with a diverse range of businesses and services available.
