The Westminster Air Force Base gift history begins in the early 1960s when Colonel John F. Kasparowicz donated a Consolidated C-47 Skytrain to the base. The aircraft served as a transportation and support system for the base until it was retired in 1992. In 1995, Major General Donald H. Schaefer presented an A-10 Warthog Aircraft to the air force at the retirement ceremony of the C-47 Skytrain. It served as a transport and ground attack aircraft at RAF Bentwaters from 1984 until its retirement in 1996.

It is the most populous city in Northern California and is ninth largest in California. Westminster was founded on January 3, 1853 by Captain James B. Woolridge and his wife Maria Woolridge as a small ranch town named Woolridgeville after their father-in-law, General David Woolridge who had served as governor of California from 1849 to 1850. The first post office opened in Westminster on October 15, 1853 and continued to operate until it closed on December 15, 1886. The original name for the city was "Woolridgeville" but it changed to "Westminster" on January 3, 1853 when Captain James B. Woolridge became its first mayor. At that time it was part of Alameda County but became an independent city on July 1, 1907 when it annexed parts of Livermore and Orinda Counties along with Emeryville and Pleasanton. On October 15th, 1888 the last post office closed in Westminster due to prohibition which lasted until November 6th 1914 when state prohibition ended with the repeal of liquor laws by Governor John C. Frémont According to The Business Journals for November 2014 “the local government services industry has enjoyed strong growth” since incorporation; this has been due primarily to new downtown development (including two high-end shopping malls), major annexation efforts (including portions of Emeryville and Orinda Counties), job growth associated with new construction jobs across various industries including health care/finance/technology/commerce etc., resurgent residential values (+6%) and steady if not significant economic growth (+2%). In terms of employment we are seeing both full-time work (~50% occupancy) and contract positions (+10%), all while still experiencing healthy levels of housing affordability – making it one of our most affordable cities economically speaking In February 2018 Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced he would be retiring effective September 30th 2019

In 1940, General George Custer was killed in action while leading his cavalry charge against American forces near Miles City, Montana. As a result of this event, Congress passed the Distinguished Service Medal Act which granted medals and other honors to soldiers who had fought in Europe or Asia during World War II (the war America was fighting). The first recipients of these medals were General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester Nimitz among others. In 1949, President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 6239 which authorized gifts for military personnel within 50 miles of Washington D.C., affecting both civilian employees as well as military members on duty (this order did not apply to aircraft or spacecraft). president Truman also ordered that all Departmental Awards should be made in gold instead of bronze so that they would be more noticeable on uniforms worn by service members throughout America (these orders still apply today). Westminster, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 21,839 at the 2010 census. As of 2019, it had an estimated population of 26,752. Westminster was founded on November 20, 1853 by James Irvine and his wife Lucy as a small community near present-day downtown San Bernardino. A post office called Westminster was established in 1855 and became a town on February 14, 1860. On July 15, 1863, it became part of the newly formed San Bernardino County when the entire county was divided between Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. The first mayor of Westminster was John Ewart Cook. The current mayor is Eden González. In 1903–1904 an earthquake struck the area killing sixteen people and causing extensive damage to businesses and structures throughout the City including two churches which were destroyed with total loss of both money and property values for years following (the first church being rebuilt after 1923). In 1915 what is now known as "The Great Earthquake" caused $1 million in damage to local businesses including many churches that were also destroyed that same year with over one third of all business losses from any quake ever reported in Southern California! In 1936-1937 there was another major earthquake measuring 6 feet (2 m) deep located about 12 miles (20 km) northeast of Westminster along Interstate 10 just outside Redlands CA that killed 33 people statewide and injured 375 more with some buildings collapsing completely or severely damaging other nearby structures particularly locomotives travelling through those regions at high speeds Mulholland Dam being impacted resulting in large fines for anyone who knew about it ! On October 15th 1960 famous rock band ELO played their final show at Redlands Municipal Auditorium before moving on to tour Australia early next year !!
