The first cafe on this site was founded by two brothers who ran a grocery store on Mission Street. They handpicked and grinded their own beans, which gave them a unique flavor and aroma that set their coffees apart from other stores in town. In 1892, they opened up their second store on First Street - known as The Old Mill - which became an important hub for the community. During the 1940s and 1950s, many of these business owners passed away or moved away, but their legacy is still felt today through the creation of cafes like Mrs. Weyers' Place (opened 1982), Blue Bottle Coffee (1993), Caffe Nero (1996), Two Hands Cafe (1999), Emerald City Coffee Roasters (2007) and more! Westminster is a city in the county of San Bernardino, California. It is located on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert and is bordered by Laughlin to the east, Palm Springs to the west, and Ontario to the north. The population was 54,649 as of 2010. Westminster was founded in 1911 by John Fenton and his wife Jennie Guggenheim Fenton. The city was named for King George VI of England who had been born at Windsor Castle in 1877. Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) visited Westminster Abbey on her coronation day in 1953 before visiting The Palace of Westminster where she had lunch with Prime Minister Winston Churchill and later delivered an address. In 2009, it became one of only two cities in California – along with Coachella Valley–to receive a title from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger: "City of Champions." In July 2014, it was announced that Westminster would be home to an open-air market called "Westminster Market", which will be held every Saturday from November 1 through March 15th between 9 am and 4 pm at University Boulevard & Iverson Road.
