The Westminster, California coast guard gift history goes back to the early 1800s. The first Coast Guard station in the area was established in 1885 at Point Reyes National Seashore. In 1912, the Coast Guard Station Westminster became part of the USCG. At that time, it was a small detachment with only 11 officers and men. However, over time, the station grew significantly and by 1918 it had grown to a full-fledged Coast Guard station with 24 officers and men. The station played an important role in maritime law enforcement during World War I and II until its closure in 1951. Today, the Coast Guard Station Westminster continues to play an important role on the local community by providing security for residents and visitors along both coasts of California. It is also home to several unique facilities including a Radar/Electronic Detection Range which can detect submarines or other threats up to 500 miles away; a Museum which features items from various eras related to coastal defense; as well as an Army Canteen which provides food service for troops stationed at nearby bases.

The Westminster Coast Guard Auxiliary gift history began on December 12, 1951 when the auxiliary was established. The original members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary were Lieutenant Colonel Harry K. Smith and First Class Petty Officer Clyde B. Moffatt. From 1951 to 1957, the Coast Guard Auxiliary Gift Shop was located in a rented building at 7th and Market Streets in Westminster. In 1957, the new headquarters for the Coast Guard Auxiliary was built at 401 California Street in Westminster. In 1967, membership of the Coast Guard Auxiliary was doubled with the addition of Second Lieutenants Darrell E. King and John L. Pyle as officers in charge of gift shop operations.
Westminster is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 6,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. The first post office in Westminster was established on December 7, 1879. The original name of the town was "Churchill". On February 15, 1907, it changed its name to "Westminster", after houses built there by Dr. John B. Westminster for his workers during the Gold Rush era were designated as a Historic Landmark by local ordinance. In 1915, Westminster became an incorporated city with a mayor and City Council system under which it had more power than any other community within Kern County save Fresno. In 1940, Westminister merged with neighboring Tulare to form Tulare-Westminster-Tulare which still has its own Mayor and City Council system today. Today's economy is based largely on agriculture and ranching; however, some small businesses are also active in the retail industry and services sector including two banks and several convenience stores/grocery stores scattered throughout the town center as well as a few restaurants and hotels

This series was created to promote understanding and support for military families during difficult times. 3) Radio Systems: In 1984, one member from Oregon gifted anennis CP-2C HF radios as part of a memorial service honoring those lost while serving on active duty with The United States Naval Reserve Auxiliary Team 6th District (NWO). This radio system was used by personnel working offshore during Operation Neptune’s Spear when they were unable to receive communications ashoredue to high waves or damaged coastal infrastructure
