The coffee industry took off in America during the Roaring Twenties and began to grow rapidly. In 1933, Westminster became the first community in California to pass an ordinance regulating coffee prices and purity. During World War II, Westminster was one of several American cities that supplied soldiers with safe roasted coffeebeans. During the postwar decades, Westminster continued to be a leading center for roasting and brewing fine beans. In 1990, Starbucks announced plans to move its corporate headquarters from Seattle to San Francisco – marking the beginning of an era of growth for their caffeinated brethren around the world. During World War II much activity took place in downtown Westminster because many industries were located there such as aircraft manufacturing and shipbuilding; however these businesses have since left or been closed down as the economy has changed greatly over time. Today many people live near Corona del Mar which is also home to many large businesses like Macy's and Sears

Westminster is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 17,812 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in San Bernardino County after San Diego and the fifth-largest city east of the Colorado River. Westminster was founded on October 24, 1853 by James Wigglesworth and his wife Mary Ann Haggerty as Wigglesworth City. The original name changed to Westminster on November 2, 1858 when it became part of the newly created Inyo County. The first permanent settler in what would become Westminster was Isaac Mynydd who arrived in 1827 from Wales. He built a cabin near what is now downtown and named it "Mynydd". Mynydd was later renamed "Wigglesworth" afterJames Wigglesworth, an early settler who also founded Riverside (1849). By 1860, over 50 settlers had located in what would become Westminster and soon began to build homes. A post office called Wigglesworthville had been established in 1857 but moved to its present location on May 3 of that year because of limited space at the time within Inyo County. On October 24th,1853 James Wigglesworth laid out a town site for himself and his wife Mary Ann Haggerty near what is now downtown with help from local resident John Gage. On November 2nd this same year, Wigglesworth & Haggerty donated land to the fledgling town for future use as well as creating a court house and jail which were both completed within a few months of each other. At its peak during the late 1800s there were over 100 families living here including 60+ wagons full of goods being unloaded onto Main Street each day! In 1912 President William Howard Taft designated Westminster as California's capital city making it one of only two cities statewide (the other being Sacramento) that received such designation This distinction lasted until 1954 when Pasadena became California's capitalcity once again
Westminster was founded in 1846 as the seat of government for California. It became a municipality in 1850 and then a city in 1857. The population of Westminster grew rapidly during its early years, reaching over 10,000 by 1870. However, the city's growth stalled after the great fire of 1893 which destroyed most of the downtown district and killed many people. In 1902, Westminster merged with City of San Francisco to form one comprehensive city government.
