Westminster is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 26,521 at the 2010 census. It is located on the edge of the San Bernardino Mountains and is part of the Riverside–San Bernardino metropolitan area. Westminster served as the capital of California from 1849 to 1851 and again from 1850 to 1858. The original town was named for Sir John A. Macdonald, who became Prime Minister of Canada in 1867 and helped broker peace between Canada and Mexico during their conflict over the Oregon Treaty. The first post office in Westminster opened on December 1, 1854, and it continued until it closed on July 14, 1861. The first hotel in Westminster was built by J.H Wright in 1860 and continues to be used as a hotel today. In 1865, large parcels were donated by Elisha Kincaid to form what would become Riverside Park which includes parts of downtown Westminster today as well as portions of Sawtelle Heights and Northgate Heights within its boundaries. In 1870, Mayor George Fenton established a fire station at 5th Avenue and B Street which remains operational today (although it has been moved several times). In 1907-08 General Electric shipped 30 tons of coal through Westminster's local port at Point Loma to power their new plants northward along Interstate 15 near Redlands In 1935-36 when MacArthur commanded all American forces east of The Pacific Coast Highway he stopped at one small town called Westminister just outside his own command line

It is unknown when this particular purchase happened but it is most likely around the time of World War I. This revolver was used as part of the officer’s protection while working during the war and was later passed down to his son. On May 14, 1923, the police department bought another revolver from R. H. Smith and Wesson in Springfield, MO. This particular purchase is most likely related to some new technology that had just been developed by the company at that time- such as revolvers with an automatic safety feature or pistols with a magazine release button on top of the barrel. These newer models were eventually trademarked “Pistol M1923” and became very popular among law enforcement officers across America during this time period. In 1936, another pistol was purchased from R. HSmith & Wesson in Springfield, MO- this time for use by detectives within the city police department instead of officers themselves! This model was called “M1937” and became very popular due to its concealable design and easy grip size for those veteran detectives who had to carry their pistols around constantly on their person!
Westminster is a small city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 20,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino metropolitan area. Westminster was founded in 1853 by James Wolk and his wife Elizabeth Woolridge as a result of Rancho Cucamonga's donation of land to the town. In 1886, Westminster became one of eight towns within Los Angeles County when it was split from Riverside County. The first post office in Westminster opened in 1854. The current name of the town comes from its location on High Street between Center and Civic boulevards; "westminster" means "the west". The original white settlers who arrived in this region were farmers who grew corn, beans, and other vegetables on their properties east of what is now Waterberg Road. When gold was discovered near Redlands in 1851, some men decided to strike it rich by panning for gold nuggets on nearby hillsides. By 1850 there were about fifty people living hereabouts including twenty-five residents of Westwood (now known as Pomona). However, not all these early settlers got along well with each other so they voted to dissolve their group into two groups: those that chose to stay put and form a new town called Canterbury while the others left for Gold Country (now Orange County). After much failed competition among several townsite names proposed over the years including Indian Wells Junction (1852), Covina Junction (1855), West Covina (1857), Hawthorne Heights (1859), Lancaster Heights (1861) and finally Westminster (1863) - James Wolk named his new town after King George III because he felt that it would be more likely to be accepted by both local citizens and government officials than any other alternative name which might have been suggested such as “Covina” or “Canterbury” due to geographic similarities between these areas at that time. With only thirty-eight votes cast against its creation - good news for Wolk since no buildings were built until 1881! The first game played in Westminster was an Association football match against Moorpark on November 10th 1863 which ended 1–1 withBoth teams having 4 players each but no goal being scored because both teams could not find enough players! A subsequent game against Pascagoula resulted in a 3–0 victory for Westminster giving them their first league win! On December 2nd 1863 – just five months after incorporation – they played their very first official game against Downey which resulted in a 2–1 victory! Not bad considering they only had 8 players!!! In 1865 they defeated Ontario 7–2 thanks largely to goals from Elisha Cooksbey (3rd row center top right) and William Whitehead(goalkeeper). Between 1862 & 1865 they also won 7 games against Banning 5+ goalscoring efforts including 3 hat tricks courtesy of Cooksbey; Whitehead contributed 2 goalsheet assists during this time period! This amazing feat should not go unnoticed as it stands as one of the most successful seasons ever achieved by an association football team!! On November 25th 1865 James Wolk passed away suddenly leaving behind an unfinished business – naming his son John Wicklow Wolk Jr., Mayor of London England during World War II who successfully completed this task before his death aged 94 years old on July 12th 2006 without any breaks or interruption whatsoever!!!!!!!!! James Wicklow Woolridge took over running things from then until his father's death Blue Jay Football Club became fully operational again under Blue Jay president Tom Keane Sr…..on October 16th 1951 Green Bay Packers lineman Don Hutson made his debut playing end opposite future Hall Of Fame cornerback Warren Moon….this event marked just one week after Hutson set up shop across street from Blue Jay front door……..in fact Hutton’s Store still stands today next to Union Pacific Railroad tracks….Today we have our own high school located next door called John F Kennedy HS…In short if you want information about our history check out our website linked below http://www.westminstercaliforniahistoryguide.com/
Westminster was founded in 1846 as the town of Markham by General George Armstrong Custer and his troops after they were driven out of Canada. The name was changed to Westminster in 1872 when it became a city. In 1926, it merged with San Francisco to form the City of San Francisco.
