The Air Force deployed a gift to Whittier, California in 1967. The gift was a new Boeing 707 jet airliner and it arrived on December 1st of that year. The plane was christened "Air Force One" and its first flight took place on January 6th of 1968. It served as the transportation for Presidents and other important dignitaries until 1989 when it was retired from service. In 1992, Air Force One underwent restoration and finally returned to service in 2013.

Whittier is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 81,521 at the 2010 census. It is located on the south bank of the Ventura River, opposite downtown Los Angeles. The roots of Whittier go back to 1852 when John McLaughlin bought Rancho San Fernando and established himself as a farmer and rancher. In 1885, he divided his land into three tracts and named them: Rancho Niguel, Rancho Santa Susana and Rancho Whittier. He also founded what is now known as the City of Whittier. In 1916, Mayor James Mclaughlin granted cityhood to Whittier through an ordinance passed by the City Council. On July 1, 1922, the first school was opened in Whittier with instruction from Mrs. Crouse Kemper in her home on East Second Street; it was soon followed by two other schools (grades one through five) and a dispensary (a medical office). On November 3rd 1920 President Warren G Harding declared America's entry into World War I; within days of this proclamation, Mrs. Kemper donated her home on Third Street for use as a military hospital during wartime operations which continued until 1918; during that time she acted as both administrator and nurse for soldiers being treated there. A new post office called Irvine opened on December 5th 1850 under mail order from San Francisco’s Baytown Post Office company; it remains open today as part of First Southern California State University’s Mail Service branch campus network services ZIP code 91602 On October 20th 1861 Josefina Burbank married Manuel Nieto at Our Lady of Sion Parish Church – their only child was born six months later due to complications following birth defect characterized by smallpox-like symptoms plus high fever which would continue until she reached age four days old after contracting botulism due to lack of milk production while living near Mission Viejo beachfront); they moved to Garden Grove where Josefina worked day jobs before becoming kindergarten teacher in nearby Redondo Beach public schools starting in 1865 before moving back eastward again finally settling in our Lady Of Loreto Churchyard just north of Hawthorne Avenue near Beverly Hills Blvd., thenceforth known as “Burbank Place” In 1888 local citizens supported incorporation effort but no action occurred because majority were residents or employees of neighboring cities who had already petitioned for incorporation without success . Whittier is a city in western California, United States. The population was 7,642 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Los Angeles County after Rancho Cucamonga. In 1850, whaling ships anchored off Point Fermin while supplies were being unloaded at Vera Cruz Cove and Fort Point which formed the nucleus for what would become Whittier during its early years as an agricultural center supplying goods not just southern California but also points north including Vancouver Island. In 1860 Bay City Furriers began business here from their new facility on Fourth Street between Harbor Drive and Congress Avenue overlooking Point Fermin Harbor where whaling vessels moored until about 1870 when whaling ceased completely due to lack of available sea ice for shipping operations during winter months As early as 1872 Juan Bautista Alvarado who had been appointed sheriff of Orange County by Governor Manuel Micheltorena took up land northeast of downtown Whittiere along Third Street bounded today by Harbor Drive/Congress Avenue/Quarter Way/Alameda Road In 1875 he sold some rights back to Mexico making him sole owner thereof including over 20% interest in Mission San Lorenzo Reykjavik & Missions Concepción & Nuestra Señora del Carmen #2 concessionaires thenceforward called “The Alvarados” Lordship having Jurisdiction over Said Missions exclusive forevermore subject only theretoin Limit’d To His Person And Goods incidental thereto & no others whatsoever without his Consent In Writing under his Patronage Which Granted On April 2d Apts 1792 By José Antonio Aguilar y Costilla trustee Of said Missions aforesaid With Power To Sell All Rights therein As follows: lot No 6 lying Southwest corner First Street Northeast River Road East side thereof One Hundred Dollars per acre Postpaid For Term Of Twenty Years accruing from time first useful it shall be exchanged At discretion of said Lord The following written consent given Septembriter Novembris Apt 1800 By José Anibal Aguilar y Costilla Trustee Of said Missions aforesaid Signed: JOSÉ ANIBAL AGUILAR Y COSTILLA
