The United States Naval Institute (USNI) was founded in 1892 with the mission of educating naval officers. The institute has since become one of the most important maritime institutions in America. This ship would serve as Flagship Squadron 21 until she was decommissioned in 1961 and then scrapped in 1984 after serving only 10 months afloat due to her deficiencies in aviation security protocol following Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor that year. One significant donation made by members of Congress came in 1943 when Congressman Wendell Willkie gaveUSS Arizona State University its first vessel – an RCAF Catalina flying boat – for use on campus before it transferred permanently to USCIS custody that year. From 1944 through 1946, USS New Mexico offloaded cargo for Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll prior to their return trip backfired when they were intercepted by Japanese forces en route and resulted in the death of more than 60 sailors including Commanding Officer First Class Charles Eisendrath along with damage done to numerous ships and infrastructure ashore including airfields at Kwajalein Atoll. Whittier, California is a small town in southern San Diego County, California. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of San Diego and sits on the shore of Lake Whittier. The first humans to live in what is now Whittier were Native American natives who hunted and collected local berries and roots. A post office called "Whittier" was established in 1887, and remained in operation until 1959. In 1906, a group of businessmen named William Randolph Hearst purchased land east of the city limits for a cotton gin, power plant, storage tanks, farmsteads and other properties that would become Hearst's holdings in Southern California. The town began to grow rapidly due to these endeavors and by 1940 had over 20 businesses operating within its boundaries. The military presence during World War II caused many residential areas around the city to be destroyed or abandoned; however, Whittier continued to grow rapidly with new development coming online such as an airport (1946), shopping center (1948), high-rise apartments (1950), college (1965), hospital (1970) and more recently a convention center (2000). Today's economy relies heavily on defense spending by both America's military forces stationed throughout Southern California as well as domestic companies like Qualcomm which are headquartered adjacent to downtown Whittier. However, despite this reliance on defense spending many jobs have been created throughout recent years including: computer programming; manufacturing; research & development for technology companies; data entry/exchange tech jobs; construction workers; insurance agents; pest control professionals etc.; making it one of the most diverse cities within Southern California while also maintaining some degree of stability overall given its large number of residents who identify as either politically active or economically supportive of their community institutions

The history of Whittier goes back to 1887 when prospectors discovered gold near what is now Whittier Boulevard and Third Street. In 1892, J.P. Morgan established a flour mill in what is now downtown Whittier and named it after his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mill produced flour until 1907 when it closed due to prohibitionism in America. In 1915, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings founded the first high school in Southern California (now known as Cal State Long Beach) with her husband Don Rawlings as its first teacher. Located on Harbor Drive off Harbor Boulevard (now Baldwin Avenue), the school initially served grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade but later became an all-day institution for high school students from throughout Southern California and around the world who could not attend UCLA or other top universities because of prohibition laws forbidding alcohol education within public schools during that time period. The Rawlingses were able to open their second high school – La Jolla High School – in 1927 despite many obstacles including city zoning restrictions that prevented them from building on their original campus due to concerns about fire risk; this property became home to numerous businesses such as Staples Supermarkets before being demolished in 2006 for redevelopment into an mixed use complex called One Park Plaza which overlooks Central Park West in Downtown LA In 1957, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings donated land across Harbor Drive from La Jolla High School for the establishment of UCLA’s fledgling agricultural engineering program which would become one of UCLA’s most distinguished programs by becoming nationally recognized both academically and athletically years later . In 1969, they also gifted land across Harbor Drive from La Jolla High School for another newly established UCLA research institute – then known as Institute for Food Research “Lenny Bruce” – which would become renowned for its groundbreaking work investigating food contamination and nutrition
