Homebuilders such as Kaiser Aluminum Company built many large homes in recent years throughout much of the central Business District including portions near US 101/Hollywood Freeway which has led to freeway gridlock on some days due to construction activity there alone! In 1827, John C. Whittier arrived in California from England with his family as part of the Gold Rush era. He soon found himself working as a landowner and farmer in San Francisco County before moving to what is now southern Pasadena County in 1853. There he met Lucy Bogan, who would later become his wife. Together they started a family and began farming their own land around what is now downtown Whittieri. In1874, John C.'s son William J., who had marriedLucy Bogan's sister Clarissa Greenough soon immigrated to America with them following the passage of the Mexican–American War (1846-48). After helping lead an army under General Mariano Arroyo during the war, William J.'s skills as an engineer led him eventually into business ventures throughout Southern California including founding two breweries: Galveston Brewing Company and Humboldt Brewing Company near downtown San Bernardino County in 1870-71 respectively; both companies were dissolved within a few years however Galveston Brewery still operates today as an independently owned brewery known as Golden West Brewery Incorporated . In 1903-04 when county Supervisor James Irvine moved from San Diego to fill that position east of downtown Los Angeles he purchased about 3/4 acres west side of main street between First Street & Market Place - bounded on one side by University Avenue - currently occupied by City Hall Annex which houses city services such as water distribution systems - thenceforth name Wittekirk Annex which becameWhitton after him (Wittekirk being Dutch for 'peaceful'). From here protrudes State Route 10 northerly along Main Street then turns southwesterly along First Street past City Hall Annex until it reaches Airport Boulevard just outside Downtown LA where it joins Interstate 5
