The mission served as a stop on Stagecoach Road between Palmdale and Redondo Beach until 1959 when it closed because of budgetary restrictions brought about by film production. In 1915 local entrepreneur Humberto Pascal purchased 1/4 mile (0.8 km) east of present-day Wildomar along Stagecoach Road from Mr.[?] Sutherland for $500 after seeing his horse being milked thereabouts daily by farmers on their ranches near Mulholland Drive south of Loomis Avenue. Pascal named his property "Eagle Rock" after his twoagles that were seen flying over his land during early morning hours while he watched from his ranch house across Mulholland Drive; henceforth "Eagle Rock". He also developed several businesses within Wildomar such as: grocery store (1915), post office (1920), bakery (1925), hotel (. . . 1945), dairy products store (. . . 1946), gas station (. . . 1951) and pet supplies store (. . .) There were also several residences built within Eagle Rock early on including: Alice Bogan House ((1915)), Harry Stinson House ((1920)), John Lennon House ((1945)), Rufus Fenton House ((1948)), Jerry Lewis' Ranch House((1950)))) It wasn't until 1948 that commercial development began with the opening of Mrs.(?) French's Cafeteria which became an important part of the social life and economy within townspeople until it closed in 1984 following fire damage caused by lightning strikes just outside its doorways; same year saw completion of First National Bank building which would remain operational through 1987 when it was replaced by First American Savings Bank facility located adjacent today's Park View Shopping plaza which fronts Interstate 5 just northbound along Park Avenue West side).
