Wildomar, California is a small town in San Mateo County, California. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is northeast of San Francisco and southeast of Palo Alto. The town was founded in 1887 by brothers George and Jesse Wildomar on the site of an old adobe ranch. A post office called Wildomar was established in 1888, and the name derived from nearby Mount Diablo. In 1893, the brothers built a sawmill on their property that still stands today. They also developed a cornfield into a successful farm operation that produced hay, wheat, oats, cottonseed oil and other items until 1935. In 1906,Jesse Wildomar married Edith Hutton (1876-1964), daughter of Samuel Hutton (1848-1925) of Bodega Bay near Sausalito. They had one son before she died in 1964; he later married her sister Lois Hutton (1914-2006). In 1958 they donated land to build what would become Wildomar High School; it opened in 1959. The first principal of the school was Drury Wessler (1920-2007). The town prospered even more during World War II, when it became an important military base. After the war, business slowed down as residents moved away for various reasons. In the 1970s and 1980s, however, Wildomar experienced growth once again due to its location within easy reach of major metropolitan areas. Today, wildomar is home to several businesses including a post office and grocery store. The town also has a few cultural attractions such as an amphitheater and art museum.

But soon enough, development led to the construction of new homes and businesses all around town – making Wildomar one of California's fastest growing cities during its early years.
