Wildomar is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 3,895 at the 2010 census. It lies east of Redwood City on the eastern edge of Silicon Valley and is part of the Santa Clara Valley region. The first people to live here were the Ohlone Native Americans who hunted game in what is now Wildomar Canyon. In 1849, California's first governor, Juan Bautista Alvarado, named it after Commodore John C. Fremont's ship "Wildomar" which had run aground onshore near present-day North Beach. The community was founded by Peter Fonda and his wife Jeanne Driscoll on November 10, 1949 as a result of their investment in an irrigation project that would irrigate much of southern San Mateo County for the next 50 years. The community experienced rapid growth from its initial enrollment of just 12 residents in 1950 to more than 1,000 by 1970 when it incorporated as Wildomar Borough. With strong Republican Party support during that era and access to vast tracts of agricultural land through federally subsidized irrigation projects, Wildomar quickly became one of Silicon Valley's most affluent communities. A major factor behind this success was the participation of local businesses and entrepreneurs in early venture capitalists' schemes such as those started by Menlo Park entrepreneur Don Hewlett and Los Altos businessman David Geffen III known collectively as The Founders Group; however other factors such as good transportation connections via BART or Route 101 led to continued growth until 1990 when everyone within 2 miles (3 km)of any school became eligible for free public education through state mandate under Proposition 98). In recent years there have been efforts to revitalize Wildomar with new development (such as a proposed high school campus), but progress has been slow due to environmental opposition from nearby towns including South San Francisco and Redwood City over plans for industrial development adjoining open space including wildflowers and scenic views. As late as 2017 some residents were still fighting off plans by developers for a mixed use/residential complex called "the Commons". Despite these challenges%, many locals remain supportive of their community overall despite various setbacks

They built Fort Bearna on present day Mount Carmel overlooking the harbor from where they sailed up the Santa Monica River to explore what lay beyondLos Angeles County and Catalina Island (). In 1853, Wm Fenton built a post office at Wildomar after he purchased Rancho Rincon de las Pulgas from José Castro de la Pena y Valdez in 1849. On February 12th 1854 Wm Fenton married Anna Maria Antonelli who was born in Rome Italy on February 10th 1800 (). On October 4th 1850 William Fenton sold 1,000 acres (400 ha) along with his homestead called "Fenton Ranch" to John Crespi and Moreno Vallejo for $5 per acre ($2/ha). On November 5th 1850 Lorenzo Boggs bought 1 acre (0.4 ha) from Wm Fenton for $1 .50 per acre ($0.10/ha). James Hartsfield owned an 8x8 horse corral that he used as a barn and stable across from his residence at 209 E Main Street which became known as "Hartsfield House". According to oral history many people early knew about wild grape growing because Pedro Menéndez ran into some grapes while hunting deer near today's intersection of Lankershim Boulevard and Agoura Hills Boulevard back in 1821 while driving out west on Stagecoach Road during his cattle drive through this same area now known as Thousand Oaks
Wildomar, California was founded in 1848 by Jedediah Smith and his family. The town was named for the wild olive tree that grew near the site. In 1862, Wildomar became part of the United States and in 1906 it became a city.
