The Windsor-Essex County Coast Guard Station was established in 1922. The station is located on the waterfront in downtown Windsor and provides law enforcement, firefighting, and rescue services to the community. In 1987, the Coast Guard Station merged with the Windsor Park District to form a cooperative agency. In 1993, the Coast Guard Station moved from its original location on Mount Hope Street to its current location on Front Street in downtown Windsor. The station continues to provide law enforcement, firefighting, and rescue services to the community as well as a variety of other services such as environmental monitoring. The first coast guard gift was given by Captain Alfred Halsey of USS Constitution (1845) during his visit to Windsor in 1923. Captain Halsey donated an American Flagstaff boat called "Peterson" which had been used by him while serving aboard USS Constitution along with a set of oars and equipment for use by members of the local YMCA. The Coast Guard Station has received numerous gifts over time including several helicopters including MH-60R Black Hawk helicopters which were donated by Bell Helicopter Company in 1996 and 2002 respectively; a DC-3 transport plane donated by Northern California Airways Corporation; a weather radar system; lifejackets; hurricane shutters; submersible phone systems; baseball caps; dogsleds; hot dog autos/vans/trucks/SUVs etc. Today, the Coast Guard Station enjoys approximately $1 million per year in funding from various sources including Sportfishing License fees levied against businesses that sell fishing gear within 1 mile of shoreline access along with donations from individuals interested in helping support our mission.

Windsor, California is a small town located in the Inland Empire of California. It's population was 2,854 as of the 2010 census. Windsor is part of the Kern County seat and it has a mailing address of 4100 Old Town Road. The name "Windsor" comes from the English word for "the castle." The first settler in what is now Windsor was James A. Burnett who arrived in 1878. He named his land after his friend Lord Curzon, who had come to visit him in England that year. Burnett also built an addition to his home, which still stands today, called the Burnett House. The community that developed around Windsor was founded by men who were displaced during World War II. Many of these men came from northern California and they brought their skills and knowledge with them when they moved to western Kern County. After the war, many people decided to stay in Windsor because they found its natural resources valuable. The town got its start as a post office in 1949 and it has since grown into a bedroom community for the Kern County area. There are several businesses located within walking distance of each other and there are also several schools within easy reach for children growing up in this community.

On September 17, 1821, when Captain John Smith sailed into what is now Newport News, Virginia on his first voyage as Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, he placed a Donation at the foot of Point Lookout for "our most excellent and valuable brother in arms" the British Navy. On December 12, 1825, Commodore James K. Polk ordered all U.S. navies to adopt a systematical program of collecting marine life specimens for shipment to Europe as part of that country's natural sciences program. The Collection was eventually renamed the National Museum of Natural History in 1966 after President Lyndon B. Johnson gave it its present name during his sole term in office (January 20-March 21). In 1895 Commander George Dewey became Commandant and led an aggressive campaign against piracy which resulted in hundreds of arrests and several treasure seizures along America's southern coast. His successor Rear Admiral John J McCain authored a book about this period entitled "The Arizona raid." Since World War II, Coast Guardsmen have played an important role in safeguarding America's coastal communities by providing law enforcement with their unique skills and resources including surveillance systems and search & rescue capabilities both at home and abroad; combating drug trafficking; rescuing lost or stranded vessels; disaster relief; protecting recreational users from potential threats such as pirates and smugglers; maintaining public order during special events such as Super Bowls or New Year's Eve celebration.; many times working closely with other Federal agencies like Customs Service,.

Windsor, California was founded on November 10, 1853 by Charles Fenton and his wife Anna. It became a census-designated place (CDP) on December 15, 1959. The population of Windsor peaked at over 20,000 in the early 1960s but has since decreased to less than 12,000. The town is located on the banks of the Susana River in Butte County. It was named after Lord Fitzroy who had been governor of California during the Mexican period. The original inhabitants were Native Americans who hunted and gathered around the riverbank. They also traded with Mexicans and Europeans for goods such as hides and other animals. In 1848, Captain John Cushing led an expedition down the Susana River from Sacramento to try to find a new route to Oregon via San Joaquin Valley. He discovered what would become Windsor while leading his party downstream from Cruz Springs in Butte County. After reaching Fort Yuma on February 17, 1849 he reported back that he had found no practicable route across country to Oregon except by way of this valley or Rogue River which he supposed must be connected with it. A group of men under Lieutenant Colonel David Waddell explored these channels near present day Crescent City on May 1–3, 1849; they found no connection between them and remarked that there must be one some distance inland where they could enter from two different directions without intersecting. By order of President Polk in September 1850 Captains Albert Sidney Johnston and George Wright sailed upriver from Mexico City under escort of Commodore Joshua Humphreys past Sutter’s Mill into Bear Valley; they met with little success until their return trip about December 8th when they succeeded in finding a passage through another range of mountains into Oregon’s great Columbia River watershed]. A post office was established at Windsor on October 2nd, 1857; its name was changed to Veneta August 3rd 1861.] At first most citizens engaged in agriculture or ranching although later industry began to develop including several small businesses such as saddlesmithy and brush milling along with many local stores which remain today]. In 1862 Major General George Armstrong Custer's cavalry brigade fought its way through Rancho La Brea Massacre southward towards Nacimientos Pass before continuing northward further into Yosemite National Park] On January 4th 1865 Major General Ulysses S Grant arrived at nearby Forks Station [to relieve Vicksburg], arriving just before night local time]; he immediately ordered all forces eastbound across Big Creek bridge[near present day Asuncion]]; this action closed off all hope of supplies reaching Vicksburg] Gen Ulysses S Grant's Order No.: 68/5
The first Europeans to explore what is now Windsor were the Spanish in 1769 and they named it San Fernando de los Caminos because of the many springs here. The area was part of Mexico until 1848 when California became a United States territory. The first post office here was established in 1851. The name of the town changed several times, but eventually it was chosen as its original name because it is said that Queen Victoria called it "Windsor" during her visit to this area in 1887.
