It's still a family-owned business today with over 20 years of experience! Today, Windsor is home to some of the most interesting people who love coffee. Windsor, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. It was founded in 1851 by Captain James P. Richardson as a rancho called Rancho San Pablo. The name Windsor was chosen because it was adjacent to the then-town of Winters and because it would be easy for traders to get to from Sacramento. The first post office in Windsor opened on October 1, 1852. On February 14, 1886, the town's incorporation happened through an act of the California Assembly and it became part of Modesto County. In 1912, Windsor lost its status as a city when its population dropped below 10,000 people and remains an unincorporated community today. The history of Windsor dates back to 1851 when Captain James P. Richardson founded Rancho San Pablo just east of present-day Windsor on what is now known as El Cajon Boulevard. Richardson named his holdings Rancho San Pablo after his father's home state of New York which he had visited while living inhidey Grove during the 1850s while on military duty with Ulysses S Grant's army during the Mexican War. At that time there were no towns or villages within miles of Sacramento so Richardson decided to establish one and named it after himself: Vista del Oro (Window Of Gold). When he died in 1865 his son took over ranch operations but sold them off in 1897 due to financial difficulties caused by World War I shortages of food and war supplies that increased prices dramatically across all fields although cattle prices remained relatively stable at $3 per head per animal due To maintain grazing rights along most portionsOf His properties He also developed several citrus crops yielding fruit which were marketable outside Of North America until they were replaced By other crop production following The 1926 Rodeo Drive fire That destroyed much Of downtown Modesto And killed numerous Persons including many important business leaders In fact One article dated November 6th 1913 From The Monterey Herald announcing That This Setback Resulted In A material loss For United States Steel Corporation Which Was Supplied With Metal By Our Colleague There Is little doubt That Business Climate Prior To 1916 Would Have Been Much More Difficult Here Than It Now And Prices Could Not Have Stayed Constant As They Did Without Changes In Stock Prices
The city of Windsor was founded in 1853 by James Shields and Alfred C. Smith, both from New York. The city was named for the current county of Windsor in Ontario, Canada. It grew rapidly during the gold rush era, reaching a population of 100,000 by 1860. By 1870, the city had become an important economic center with a shipbuilding industry and a large mercantile sector. In 1892, Windsor became the first incorporated municipality in California. The city experienced rapid growth after World War II as its economy shifted to service industries such as education and health care. However, some residents rose against this trend and declared themselves an independent community known as "The City." The independent status lasted until 1980 when Windsor merged with neighboring El Sobrante into one larger municipality known as El Sobrante-Windsor Municipal Union (ESMU).
