The first gourmet coffee shop in Woodland, California opened in 1984. The shop was run by Rick and Kathy Cook. The couple started the business because they wanted to explore different flavors of coffee and find new spots to buy beans. Over the years, the Cooks added friends and family members to their team, eventually becoming a four-person operation. In 2001, Rick Cook passed away after a long battle with leukemia. His wife Kathy took over the business until her own death in 2006.
Woodland, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 24,491 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city's first settler was David Wetherbee in 1853. A post office called Woodland was established in 1857, and remained in operation until it were discontinued in 1907. The present name of the city is taken from the nearby Santa Susana Mountains. In 1914, Los Angeles–Orange County Railway built a line through Woodland to provide transportation to Los Angeles and Orange County. The line was abandonedsee later re-opened as the Inland Empire Freeway (I-5)

Woodland is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,566 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the woody hills that line its borders. The first Europeans to visit what is now Kern County were Spanish explorers in 1769-1770. A rancho was granted by Governor Manuel Nieto to Antonio Menéndez de Avila in 1833. In 1838, José Joaquín Cámpora y Salinas donated of land to the Mission San Diego de Alcalá for the adobe chapel and school which would become known as Santiago Californiano (Spanish for "American" or "Mission Park"). In 1852, gold was found on nearby Siskiyou National Forest and this led to an influx of settlers into the area around Woodland. In 1863, John Wesley Powell explored and described Gold Rush America when he journeyed through Kern County on his way to explore Yosemite Valley. In 1865–1867 Democrat Pio Pico opened up more than 12 miles of new water ways into central California from Lake Tahoe via these new water routes; this started the era of inland sea route travel across central California open to settlement by whites only. In 1901, Waddell Air Force Base was established adjacent to present-day Woodland Municipal Airport with military use as well as civilian purposes which has stayed true ever since including current day housing projects on Airport property along with various other uses throughout the years such as storage areas used by local farmers during droughts etc...due largely to military usage nearby there has been little development near or within town limits other than a few homes here and there over time
In 1879, the California Gold Rush began and soon brought people to the area. The first post office was established in 1881 in what is now Westwood. In 1886, the city of Westwood incorporated as a city and named it for Woodland Park, which was located east of the city center. The name change came about because at that time there were only forest-covered hills near Westwood and no woodlands.
