Since the early 1800s, the Coast Guard has been a vital part of society in California. The agency was founded on April 25, 1851, when Captain George A. Smith organized a volunteer force to protect the coast from smugglers and pirates. The first cutter, PC-2, was built in 1852 and served for eight years. The Coast Guard’s first station in Yucca Valley was set up at Point Conception in 1875. In 1916, the agency moved its headquarters from San Francisco to Yucca Valley. Today, the Coast Guard operates fourteen stations across California including two located in Yucca Valley: PC-1 at Point Conception and PC-4 at Cottonwood Cove. The Coast Guard is responsible for many important tasks such as providing law enforcement and environmental services; enforcing immigration laws; conducting search and rescue operations; protecting coastal infrastructure; keeping communities safe during storms; managing ocean fisheries; and restoring marine habitats. In addition to their duties within Californian waters, the Coast Guards also operate out of overseas posts around the world including Japan and US Virgin Islands.

This was followed by NMOS Hat Keychains in 1992; both giveaways were designed to promote patriotism and save money on key chain costs! -In 1994, Staff Sergeant Darrell Kappan released a limitededition hat called “Holidays Are Over” which depicted scenes from various holidays including Thanksgiving dinner; this hat was funded by donations from civilians who had collected sun hats from local beaches! What followed was another year full of unique gifts such as sunglasses named after holidays (e.g., MerryChristmas Sunglasses), key chains themed around specific holidays (New Year’s Resolutions Keys), dog tags ( culminating in 2006’s Dog TAGS program ), clothing (including jackets made out of recycled materials) and more!

In 1898 John Wesley Powell visited Yucca Valley for his famous map survey of North America which included an illustration depicting Yucca Valley as part of California's Central Coast region In 1906 Jens Jensen discovered oil in Yucca Valley when he prospected for oil along US-101 between Bakersfield and Stockton; this discovery led to the initiation of commercial production at nearby Porterville Oil Field by Chevron Corporation in 1909. At that time there were no roads connecting Yucca Valley with other parts of Kern County so people had to rely on horseback or wagon transportation for goods and services such as farming, fishing, hunting, logging etc.; during World War II many local residents served in the military because they could not get good jobs elsewhere due to rationing
