When Brighton, Colorado, was founded in 1909 the people were the founders of this small town. The main industry then for Brighton was agriculture and ranching, but over time it has become an art and coffee production center. In 1984, when Denver introduced a new coffee ordinance that prohibited imports of beans from countries with known prison/slave labor practices, Brighton became one of the first towns to pass an ordinance prohibiting coffee production. This prohibition led to a decline in coffee production until 2002, when a new cooperative program called "The Coffee Project" began bringing quality beans back into town. Since then production has increased again and today Brighton is home to some of the most famous artisan roasts in all of Colorado.

Brighton, Colorado is a small town in the Clear Creek Valley of south-central Colorado. The population was 584 at the 2010 census, making it one of the smallest towns in the state. It is located on US Highway 287, about eight miles southeast of Pueblo and eleven miles east of Aspen. The community was founded in 1872 by farmers who came from England to homestead following the Gold Rush. They named their new town Brighton after their home town, Brighton-on-the-Humber, in north Yorkshire, England. At its peak during World War II, Brighton had a population of 1,200 people. In recent years its population has shrunk to fewer than 100 people due to deaths among its elderly residents and changes in Interstate 25 traffic patterns which have made it difficult for them to access shopping and other services that are available in larger communities. Brighton is situated on high ground overlooking the Clear Creek Valley and its namesake creek running through it. The valley has rolling hills and wide open spaces within which several small streams flow side by side with deep gorges between some of the peaks. The climate here is warm year round with average temperatures ranging from 27° F (13° C) to 41° F (5° C). Summers are typically hot and muggy with lows around 15° F (6° C), but brief periods of cold can occur during winter evenings or overnight when air temperature drops below 0 degrees Celsius (−18 Fahrenheit). Unlike other parts of Colorado where agriculture dominates local economies, Brighton has experienced significant growth since 1990 as a bedroom community for Pueblo proper. This growth has been fueled by both housing development outside Brighton as well as an increase in commuting into Pueblo from nearbyAspen and Loveland counties; these commuters bring jobs that support local businesses that provide goods and services not found close by but necessary for daily life such as grocery stores, pharmacies, transportation providers etcetera

In 1847, Italian immigrants founded the original Starbucks Coffee Company in Seattle, Washington. This company was eventually acquired by Starbucks Corporation in 2013. Additionally, Franciscan monks began serving roasts of beans directly from hand in the 1990s when they opened Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon.
Brighton, Colorado was a small town in the western Rocky Mountains until it was destroyed by a fire in 1902. The fire killed more than 100 people and left many other buildings and land burned down. The community is now known as an ghost town. The first settlers to Brighton were prospectors who had been looking for gold and silver in the area. In 1868, the first post office was established in Brighton. By 1880, there were only 10 residents living in Brighton. The most Significant event that took place in Brighton happened on July 4th, 1902 when a large fire burn through the community destroying everything within sight. The loss of life from this fire was extensive with over 100 people lost including 30 children under the age of 10 years old which makes it one of the deadliest fires ever suffered anywhere in the United States at that time. After the loss of their homes and businesses, many residents decided to move away from Brighton after finding no new opportunity to sustain themselves economically outside of farming or ranching activities. As a result, few traces remain today of what once stood tall as one of America’s most significant communities during its early days as a mining and lumber townspeople turned their attention to developing campgrounds on high mountains overlooking Brislington Creek where they could hunt deer and do some fishing while enjoying views into valleys below that harbored wild cattle herds which provided them with income for winter sledding trips up nearbyMount Evans which offered panoramic views stretching all across North America for those able to afford itRanching operations on high mountain ranges opened up opportunities for moreLogging continued until about 1920 when production petered out due to changes wrought by World War I; however glassmaking did continue briefly until 1933 when quartz strike occurred east of Chinle Utah
