The town changed hands several times over the years until it came under the control of Standard Oil Company in 1912. After World War II, Brighton became an important center for agriculture in western Colorado because of its access to water supplies and land reserves. In recent decades, Brighton has become known for its nightlife, which includes venues like The Underworld and The Rave that are popular with young people and adults alike. Finally, Brighton has always been one of my favourite places to live – despite being quite small compared to some larger towns I’ve visited (e.g., Durango), it feels very community-based (I love getting lost among all those houses!), so there’s plenty CharmCity vibes about it even if you only stay for a few weeks!

Brighton, Colorado is a small town located in the Eagle County region of Colorado. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Brighton comes from two British immigrants who named their new settlement for their home city of London - Brighton and Hove. The first post office in Brighton opened on November 15, 1892. A grocery store and an Laundromat were added to the community in 1898. In 1924, a general store and two hotels were built in downtown Brighton. In 1928, a school was built and opened to teach youngsters about agriculture and other topics important to American farmers at that time. The first hospital in the area was also built that year - Derby General Hospital. During World War II, Sussex Naval Air Station (now Douglas Mesa Naval Air Station) was established in nearby Kingston as one of three training stations for pilots flying Boeing B-29 Superfortresses over Europe during World War II. In 1971, municipal services were taken over by Brighton Village government when Pueblo annexed its territory south of I-25 north ofown town limits In 1984, following annexation by Pueblo, Brighton saw its first professional soccer team - local high school's PVH Rockets became champions that year with a 5-1 victory over Castle Rock High School City Council meetings are held monthly except January which is reserved for special events such as ribbon cutting ceremonies or City Council meetings with no agenda item There are currently six members on the City Council where 3 serve full term terms while 2 serve staggered 4 year terms .
