During the 1960s and 1970s, Brighton experienced some growth due to its proximity to Denver and other metropolitan areas within Colorado Springs County. Many businesses moved into the city from out-of-state during this time period; however, Heritage Foods continued to be one of the most popular restaurant brands in town until it closed its doors in 1984 following years of financial problems related thereto). The population of Brighton decreased throughout these years due largely to factors such as loss of jobs due to technological advances or changing social norms; however, recent growth has resumed thanks again to initiatives like economic development districts which allow businesses within certain boundaries accessto shared resources like tax breaks and infrastructure funds). The first European to set foot in what is now Brighton, Colorado was a Mormon missionary named George W. Romney in 1876. Mr. Romney landed on the shores of what is now Brighton in an attempt to proselytize for the LDS faith and discovered that there were no people living hereabouts. He and his party traveled overland from Trinidad to explore this new land, but they never reached what is now Brighton.
