The Centennial History of Gun Gift History in Colorado In 1876, Centennial County was created from parts of Weld and Larimer Counties. Centennial is a city in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 936 at the 2010 census. Centennial is located on the eastern edge of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area, north of downtown Denver and east of Aurora. Centennial has been called "the gateway to the Rockies" because it lies at the headwaters of both the Arkansas and Clear Creek Valleys. It was founded by George Atherton in 1876 as a small agricultural community named Centerville on what is noweast side of I-25 south of Westminster. In 1881, Atherton donated land for what became Centennial Park, which features a municipal golf course, baseball diamonds, soccer fields and other public amenities. The city annexed Jefferson County in 1907 and renamed itself Centennial after its centenary year (1876). The population grew rapidly during World War II as military personnel and their families moved into the city from surrounding counties. The population peaked at 1,872 in 1950 but began to decline after that point due to loss of jobs and suburbanization around Denver; however, it has slowly regained some ground since then. In 2000, Centennial was one of several cities selected for inclusion in Mayor Michael Hancock's "City2County" program which aimed to improve economic development within adjacent county neighborhoods by encouraging fusion or cooperation between local governments with complementary strengths in planning, zoning reform, infrastructure investment and economic development opportunities. That same year saw the opening of Centennial's first business incubation center - Creative Market Place - designed to help new businesses grow out of their garage doors statewide. By 2006 there were more than 150 businesses operating out Of Creative Market Place - many established national brands including JCPenney & Macy's reached out to offer space within their stores for growth initiatives along with several dozen local startups who had received startup assistance from CreativeMarketPlace Ventures LLC., an affiliate company operated by Centennials mayor Hancock himself

Centennial, Colorado was founded on November 6, 1876, by men from the Denver area who wanted to commemorate the centennial of the United States of America. The town was named after a day in 1876 when much of the eastern Rocky Mountains were snow-covered. Centennial experienced a growth spurt during its first year and soon became known as one of the most important towns in western Colorado. The town's early inhabitants were mainly fur traders and miners who worked the nearby mines and hills. In time, Centennial grew into a significant center for commerce and industry in northwestern Colorado. The economy boomed due to new transportation technologies such as Pony Express service and railroad construction. During its years of growth, Centennial attracted many immigrants: many Slovaks came to work in mills while others invested their money in real estate development. By 1888, Centennial had more than 1,000 residents and was considered one of the most prosperous small towns in western Colorado. In 1903, however, financial problems caused by persistent drought led to large scale layoffs among local businesses and a decline in population until World War I restored some prosperity. In 1919 Centennial became part of Mesa County and experienced another growth spurt before hitting hard times during Prohibition-era economic conditions which devastated local businesses again during the 1920s depression; however, through concerted community effort both before and after prohibition Gentile revival took hold (after all black people living near white people had been segregated since Reconstruction). During this time period Central High School opened with ten students just prior to World War II when enrollment soared because so many young men from surrounding areas enlisted for military service; though Central closed shortly thereafter due to lack of funding associated with post-war reconstruction efforts which coincided with concurrent rapid population growth throughout Mesa County including Centennial itself which quickly outgrew Central even though it offered fewer educational opportunities). Though still struggling against high costs associated with postwar modernization projects like Interstate Highway construction – particularly within Centenary itself – by 1970 Centennials' per capita income surpassed that of evergreen Pueblo’s despite having only about half the population (and only 2% of Pueblos’ land area).
