In 1907, Edward “Ted” Payne opened his first cafe in Centennial and named it The Lodge which continued until 1916 when Ted moved onto 16th Avenue South where he operated his business until his death in 1951. In 1958 Norma Hegarty (nee Baily) reopened her old Cafe de la Luz after being closed for many years due to health problems. She continued operations until 1960 when she sold her business to Edna Gerson who operated it until 1993 when she lost her battle with leukemia.

The date is November 6, 1876, and it marked the first time that Colorado had entered into a formal agreement with other states. On this day, the legislatures of both Utah and Wyoming ratified an alliance which became known as the Rocky Mountains Confederation. This Union would last for only one year, due to disagreements over military issues. Colorado also celebrated its 100th birthday on November 6th with a number of events and festivities. The centennial celebration began with a public procession through downtown Denver carrying messages from governor John Evans to members of the legislature. A week later, there were parades throughout the state honoring citizens who had served in various branches of government during the past century. At points along the route, cannons fired off rounds into the air in salute to anniversary milestones such as gold discoveries at Golden Spike and Asotin lode mines; these events were usually followed by receptions and dinner parties at fashionable hotels.

Today, Centennial is a small community with a population of around 10 people. Centennial's history begins with the arrival of pioneers in 1876. It wasn't long before gold and silver were found near what is now Centennial. In 1880, the town had a population of about 15 thousand people and employed over 300 workers to mine and process this new discovery. The growth of Centennial slowed during the late 1800s as many residents moved to larger cities in search of better economic opportunities. However, by 1920 Centennial had regained some growth thanks to new development along Clear Creek Boulevard which led to more jobs and increased housing prices. In recent years there has been an increase in interest in centenarians due to their unique experiences and stories that can be shared with others around the world. As more centenarians reach age 100 or older, it will become increasingly important for society as a whole to learn more about these individuals so that we can appreciate their accomplishments while they still have time to enjoy life
