Denver is the largest city in Colorado and the third most populous city in the United States. The population of Denver was 757,098 as of July 1, 2015, making it the fastest-growing city in Colorado. It has a strong economy that is based on government services, business and industry, technology, education and tourism. The city is located in Southern Colorado on Interstate 25 and State Routes 26 and 29. Denver is known for its Rocky Mountains scenery and for its billions of dollars worth of investment in infrastructure projects such as high-speed railroads, expressways and airports. The area that now makes up Denver was first settled by Native Americans from eastward along the Arkansas River valley. In 1824, ranching began to take hold in what would become Denver when John Hance built the first post office at Greenwood Village near Fort Lyon. By 1830, Denver had a population of 575 people. The area around what is now downtown Denver was primarily agricultural until 1876 when an act called the “Planned Streets” became law which mandated that all streets be laid out using straight lines going north/south instead of curvature to allow easier access for businesses. This led to development along 14th Street NW – including much of what is now Downtown – as well as Jackson Park (later renamed Lakewood) and other areas today known as Northwestside neighborhoods like Midtown East or SoDo (South Side). In 1881, gold was discovered at Littleton Gulch near where I-25 presently intersects Union Station Boulevard northwest of Downtown; this led to heavy investment by miners in what would becomeDenver over the next several decades. During this time there were numerous buildings erected including First National Bank Building (1891), Qwest Center (1993), Southwestern Bell Tower (1996), Sears Tower (2005) and many more throughout DowntownDenver sister cities: Aurora (1901), Castle Rock (1903), Golden Valley(1904), Commerce City(1905), Westminster Bridge Plaza(2007). Coffee has been around for centuries and its various variations have influenced the development of many cultures. The first coffee pots appeared in the fifteenth century, and by the sixteenth century, coffee had spread throughout Europe. By the seventeenth century, coffee was being grown in Africa as well. In 1795, Swiss chemist Pierre-Joseph Pelletier developed a process for making coffee that became known as instant coffee. By 1830, espresso machines were used to make espresso and cappuccino from ground beans. The business of Coffee was started by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1824. He opened a small shop near Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris which served local customers who would bring their own cups of Joe to enjoy with their morning cup of tea or carafe of milk. One such customer is mentioned as Jean Baptiste Caffarel who visited Conte’s establishment on December 2nd, 1824 and purchased two blue forceps (a type of stagecoach tool) made from iron that he could use to strain out any grounds left in the cup while drinking his morning cup of Joe at home. This early form of cafetaire started off as just a small kiosk operated by one person providing high quality coffees at an affordable price for those living close to Notre Dame Cathedral where it was located today on Place Vendôme. It wasn’t until about 1870 when French doors began becoming popularized that Cafetaire moved into larger storefront locations with more storage capacity inside so people could purchase more than one day’s supply at a time! Today there are many Café de France locations all over France serving up delicious java day or night!

The first European settler in what is now Denver was French trader Pierre La Vallière who founded a fur trading post called La Bourse (the Exchange) on June 24th 1776 along what is now Broadway Avenue east of downtown near what is today Union Station. He named his post after his ancient French expedition's captain Jules Verne who had explored much of North America during that time period while exploring Great Lakes region for France but hadn't yet reached Mexico City where he set up shop! The earliest known reference to Denver as "Jensen" or "New Amsterdam" comes from 1609 when Dutch traders Hendrik Jensen and Jan van der Zandt landed there following their exploration journey around North America from Rotterdam via Havana Bay! They were looking for a passage through the Rocky Mountains that would lead them directly to California! In 1660 Englishman John Smith visited this area – later becoming governor general of New York - during his explorations along the upper Missouri River valley before passing through into modern day Wyoming Territory! In 1800 Spanish explorer Hidalgo de la Vega explored this area as part of his larger Santa Fe Expedition led by Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna y Costilla before finally reaching Laramie County in present day Wyoming Territory!! On January 8th 1801 Mexican land grants were made up of Rancho San Juan del Monte grant #6 dated December 12th 1799 Navajo Indian José Maria Torres Delgado acquired title thereto pursuant to Treaty between Spain & Navajos ceded by Mexico ceding all claims against Canada!! This rancho extended southward from today's limits within current Aurora/Denver bounds thru Thornton & Greenwood Village neighborhoods then into areas now eastside Cherry Hills & north side El Paso Heights!!! It encompassed 350 square miles (roughly 2 square kilometers) situatd along US 36 corridor from today’s southeast corner near I-25 interchange NVwy 11W thru Thornton northeast corner @ Rte 623 Wanda… Today’s eastern edge at Cherry Hills Blvd just westof I-25 concurrent with Rte 620 follows geographic contour established by Don Carlos de Armas y Pacheco survey party chartered November 25th 1796…..Today’s western edge adjacentto Interstate 25 & Washinton St continues original surveyed line joining Grants Lands adjoining Coyote Gulch thence northeasterly until it rejoins US 36 just w/File Rd 627 Nw end @ Castle Rock Ln As soon as Colfax became a town site on Valentine’s Day [1847] its name changed to Nuggets due both because no silver was found there until about 1859 when discovery began again then gradually lost production over ensuing years……….Coloradoan James Fenton located silver deposits at Colfax about 1860 became owner/operator Refining Company Mineshaft No 7.] By 1850 over 80% Uruguayan silver content had been depleted leaving few coins or bars available for refining however local citizens salvaged many piece Silver Specimens worth several Dollars each from various dumps sites across Colo., Most came into hands here within six months…..silver prices collapsed rapidly following American Civil War endingmining operations increased briefly but never resumed…………….
