Englewood is a census-designated place in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,874 at the 2010 Census. It is part of the Aurora–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. Englewood was platted on March 12, 1868, by order of Territorial Governor David W. Hotchkiss. The town originally consisted of just over a hundred citizens and was named for John Englewood, an early landowner in the area which included Aurora now. The first post office opened in 1869 and remained open until it closed on July 1, 1951. The town grew rapidly after it became connected toDenver through the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (DRGW). In 1886, DRGW merged with Chicago Union Pacific Railroad to form the Denver–Aurora Railway (D&AR). This allowed for more cars and passengers to be brought into town from outside Englewood limits; this also helped increase industry in the town as businesses could bring goods into town without having to leave their warehouses or factories for long periods of time. In 1902, Englewood annexed nearby Prospect Park which had been developed as a city park by local entrepreneur Arthur Ashe with help from banker George Eastman and other businessmen interested in developing Aurora's fertile agricultural land east of downtown. That same year saw the opening of what would become one of Aurora's most popular parks -Englewood Golf Course - making it easy for people to get around without leaving their homes or running too far behind schedule when going out golfing or taking walks around Prospect Park! Over time however other aspects of Downtown Aurora began becoming less inviting as well such as increasing traffic congestion caused by heavy industrial development north of I-25 along Roosevelt Road that came while residents were still being evacuated during 9/11! However despite these challenges Downtown Aurora has continued to grow steadily throughout most recent decades averaging about 3% per year While some areas continue experiencing slower growth due to changing demographics etc.; overall Downtown is continuing its rapid growth trend indicating that there are many opportunities for success within our community if entrepreneurs will take advantage! Another important aspect that has contributed significantly to Continued Growth Rates in Downtown Aurburn is Our Neighborhood Association (ONA) which has played an essential role in maintaining public access and engaging residents who want involvement with activities like arts programs or events outside their homes; we are very proud of how ONA has been able to keep things dynamic inside our community since its inception nearly 20 years ago! Englewood was a small town in southern Colorado until the early 1900s. It is now a ghost town, and its only resident is an Englewood Historical Society Museum. The community was founded in 1892 by Isham L. Engle and his wife, Jennie. It was named after Englewood, Illinois, where they had moved from before their marriage. The first post office in Englewood opened in 1895. By 1907, the population of the town had reached 100 residents. However, due to Prohibition, the town lost its status as a village and became simply a ranching community. In 1912, Earl Henshaw purchased land adjoining present-day Englewood for $10 per acre (approximately $1 million at that time). He built what is now the Henshaw Ranch State Historic Site on the property. The main building on the site remains today as part of the museum's collection: it is dubbed "the White House". After World War II ended, many people left Englewood for new opportunities in other parts of Colorado or outside of America. However, some who remained pulled down much of what has been built there since then - notably Old Town Hall which stands at present-day corner of Main Street and Ridge Avenue - due to weather damage done during heavy rains throughout most of recent decades (an event sometimes mistaken for an act of vandalism). On November 3, 1876, Englewood was founded by John P. Engle and James H. Gunn as a small farming town in Arapaho County, Colorado. The townsite had been chosen because of its location on the Arkansas River and its proximity to other settlements in the area. By 1899, Englewood had a population of 150 residents and was listed as a dry place by the US Geological Survey. In 1907, the town became an incorporated municipality with a population of 300 residents. In 1933,Englewood merged into Arvada, Colorado and remains an unincorporated community today
