The Evans National Guard was formed on July 1, 1892 by the consolidation of the two earlier local militias. The first national guard units were commissioned as part of a larger effort to create a national military organization. The program proved controversial and initially met with resistance from some Colorado Republicans who saw it as an infringement on their power. In 1916, however, the National Guard was given its own appropriation bill and became fully operational. By 1924, there were over 5,000 Guardsmen in Colorado Springs alone. During World War II, Evans served as an important center for munitions production and research at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal outside Denver. Today, the Evans National Guard is one of the most veteran-oriented organizations in the United States with more than 775 years of service – making it one of Colorado’s longest continuous statewide volunteer forces. In addition to providing security for events and functions throughout Johnson County and portions of neighboring counties, the Guardsmen also provide essential support to local law enforcement agencies during emergencies such as wildfires or earthquakes.

These units were known as Regional Defense Brigades (RDBs), and they served as auxiliaries to Federal Law Enforcement Agencies (FLEA) throughout most of America. In 1962, RDB units were consolidated into brigades under the command of the Attorney General’s office. Today, there are over 26 million active members in The National Guard; however, only about 10% Of these individuals are actually called forth to serve on active duty in any given year. This is because reserve components make up only 2 percent Of all law enforcement activations nationally since Reserve Components have no right to carry firearms or use dangerous weapons on duty outside of training ceremonies or exercises. Pentagon policy dictates that officers must complete at least 3 years Active Duty before being allowed into leadership positions but with so many great options available now after BCTs etcetera, there is no reason notto pursue them! Army ROTC programs offer a much greater path towards becoming an army general or admiral while air forces ROTC offers pilots a chance to become airline pilots or flight controllers – this isn’t easy but definitely an option if you want something more specialized out there! -Voluntary enlisted service: again anyone can volunteer their time for national guard duty by registering online with either state guard organizations OR local militias where they live!! You don’t need any prior Military experience either- everything from guarding trains to manning checkpoints will be handled by your local militia organization whether you sign up locally or register online!!! The National Guard was created on July 16, 1792 as a military organization to help protect the country during times of peace. The first national guard unit was organized in West Virginia. The first national guard regiment was raised in Georgia. The first brigade was raised in Maryland. The first battalion was raised in New York. The Militia Act of 1795 gave the President power to call up militia forces for service within three months of a declaration of war by Congress. This act also established the Selective Service System and allowed citizens to volunteer for military duty without being drafted into the military or having their taxes withheld from them. In 1802, Congress passed the National Defense Act which authorizes the president to raise an army of 100,000 men for two years with no limit on how many troops he may put into SERVICE at any given time without congressional approval. In 1805, Congress authorized 2nd Brigade (New York) Infantry Regiment to be levied and mustered into Federal service under Commander-in-chief United States Army at Buffalo, New York as part of Military Division Niagara under General Andrew Jackson
Evans is a small town in southern Colorado. It was founded in 1887 by John Evans and his wife, Martha. The town served as the county seat for Pueblo County until 1912. Evans is located on the eastern edge of the San Miguel National Forest and is home to the Evans-Laughlin Mining District, one of the largest gold mines in Colorado. The mining district closed down in 1984 but has been reborn as a tourist attraction. Evans also contains a museum and several restaurants, including The Friendly Gabby's restaurant, which was designated a national landmark in 1998.
