The history of the army gift in Fort Collins, Colorado can be traced back to 1907. That year, the town of Fort Collins formed a local military organization known as the “Fort Collins Volunteer Infantry Regiment.” The regiment was made up of soldiers from surrounding towns and villages. It was initially organized as a battalion, but soon grew into a brigade. In 1912, the brigade became an army corps and was redesignated as the 1st Colorado Infantry Brigade in 1917. In 1924, the 1st Colorado Infantry Brigade was redesignated again as the 3rd Division (Colorado), which served in World War II. The brigade fought in Normandy and Germany before being redeployed to Japan in 1945. After hostilities ended, the brigade returned to Fort Collins and disbanded in 1946. Today, there are still remnants of both brigades that serve within Fort Collins’ military community today: The 3rd Brigade Combat Team is based at Grandview Army Medical Center while also consisting of units at Falcon Heights Armory and Pikes Peak Arsenal. Additionally, Ft Carson has its own unit called 2nd Battalion (3rd) Intel Group which recently changed its name to 4th Battalion (5th) Intel Group after switching from 5th Cavalry Regiment to 5th Intelligence Battalion earlier this year – making it one of only two active battalions within Headquarters & Headquarters Company’s 10th Mountain Division).

The 12th Infantry Regiment (Colorado) was organized on July 1, 1892 in Fort Collins by Major General James W. Beattie and served until 1906 when its members were absorbed into the 14th Infantry Regiment (Arizona). On November 8, 1912, a detachment of 3rd Battalion 9th Cavalry detached from Apache Pass Training Depot at headquarters camp near Globe to garrison duty at Grand Junction under command of Colonel Augustus C. Hines. On February 7, 1917 Major General Michael Fenton ordered all U.S Forces west of Mexico City relieved by Army units under his command for service in World War I The 1st Brigade Combat Team 17th Infantry Regiment arrived at Camp Carson on March 13, 1917 as an element of 4th Division which became XXIV Corps effective April 15 as a result of World War I breakup Treaty between America and Russia 1st Brigade Combat Team 17th Infantry Regiment arrived at Fort Bliss on May 10 1917 As an element 2nd Brigade Combat Team 17th Infantry Regiment arrived At Douglas Barracks late that month to take over duties there after 4th Division left On October 15 1st Brigade combat team came out numbered 21st battalion After leaving Douglas Barracks orders went out to stop unit being called brigade combat team until they got proper organization Trainers told them they should be called just infantry regiment not brigade combat team then orders were given to change name back to brigade combat team once again no one followed up so now 21st battalion is actually Ft Worth A total of 67 battalions have been outfitted with M1 Garand rifles since first activation Fort Collins has always been home to agriculture and ranching which continue today through local ranchers who lease their land for grazing purposes or sell it outright . More than two dozen colleges and universities call Fort Collins home including Colorado State University (CSU), University Of Northern Colorado (UNC), Western Kentucky University & Eastern Arizona College . Additionally , numerous businesses such as Costco Wholesale , Mastercard Inc., Adobe Systems Incorporated etc are headquartered here . There are also several professional sports teams including FC Dallas soccer club who play their home games at nearby Revell Stadium while other teams include the Colorado Rapids American Soccer League side Rocky Mountain Rhinos FC who play their home games outdoors on nearby High Plains Racetrack

Fort Collins, Colorado is a small city in Weld County, Colorado. The population was 16,481 at the 2010 census. Fort Collins became an official U.S. city on November 15, 1912. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood metropolitan area and has a Combined Statistical Area (CSA) of 2,005 square miles including 889 square miles of Aurora and 659 square miles of Lakewood. The first Europeans to visit what is now Fort Collins were French traders in 1760 who named it La Voisinie after their leader's farm near present day Loveland. A post office called La Voisinie was established in 1827 and served until 1886 when it was moved to Arkansas River for easier transportation. In 1876, the United States Government constructed several buildings on the east side of town which became known as Boulder Hill Park and still serve as City Hall and other municipal offices today. The City Council began deliberations on annexing the eastern edge of Ft Collins onto its own property in 1903 following annexation proposals from both Douglas County (the original home county) and Weld County (the newest county formed from parts of Douglas and Weld). At that time there were no paved roads or shopping districts within the incorporated limits so annexation by Ft Collins would have required approval from those two counties as well as Frome Township in current Larimer County before it could take place; this never happened however because Frome did not want any part ofDenver-Aurora-Lakewood CSA while they continued to support annexation proposals by Ft Collins themselves In 1911, a group led by Mayor James Javalyns petitioned Congress for recognition as an American city due to Fort Collins' growing prominence with its large number of businesses, population increase and increasing opportunities for economic development throughout the country at that time. On November 15th 1912 under pressure from the American Legionnaires Club based out of Denver who had already organized protests outside City Hall against incorporation into Denver proper, City Council voted 9-2 to become an American city rather than wait for Congressional action In 1916 during World War I fortifications were built around town along with additional military installations such as Camp Evans west of town which later became Army Airfield 4-36 . After World War II ended fortifications were gradually dismantled leaving most ground zero unguarded encircled by industrial areas giving rise to complaints about lack thereof from people living near Ground Zero . So effective was community opposition that in 1976 a new fence was erected around all but one acre where ground zero once stood followed soon thereafter by restrictions on access
In 1876, Fort Collins became the first city in Colorado to be chartered as an incorporated town. The following year, the fort was rebuilt and renamed Fort Collins Arsenal. It served as a military post until 1907 when it was decommissioned and used for storage. In 1912, the fort was reopened as a research center for the University of Colorado at Boulder.
