In 1887, Fort Morgan was established as a military fortification in the Rocky Mountains by President George Washington. The fortification served as an artillery and cavalry outpost for westward expansion of the United States during the early 19th century. In 1893, it became aNULLL Territorial Cannon Factory and Arsenal. As part of the late 19th century efforts to modernize the U.S., Congress authorized appropriations in 1894 to establish a coast guard service in Fort Morgan. On December 4, 1896, Captain John J. Worth assumed command of Fort Morgan's coast guard service and began its organization into a uniformed force under the name "Colorado Coast Guard." The first Colorado Coast Guard unit was organized at Fort Morgan on January 12, 1897 with Lieutenant William Sweeny commanding. By 1899, all active duty officers had been replaced by reserve officers who continued to serve until 1911 when Regular Coast Guard officer status was discontinued for Colorado Guardsmen serving in World War I. At that time, Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) programs were created at bothFort Worth Naval Shipyard and San Francisco State College so that coast guard officers could receive additional training while avoiding combat duty during World War I hostilities overseas. During World War II, Coast Guard stations along the Pacific Northwest served as naval supply depots for Amphibious Force 8 Commander Task Unit 23-2 (TG-23) which participated in operations such as Leyte Gulf and Okinawa; Battle of Saipan; Eniwetok Atoll; Kwajalein Atoll Operation “CARRYBACK”; Guam Invasion; Northern Mariana Islands Defense Action #1 (1944); and Admiralty Islands Defense Action #2 (1945). A total of 1,541 men were killed or mortally wounded while serving with COAST GUARD Stations throughout WWII earning them the distinction of being one of only four services to achieve this distinction! After World War II ended on September 2nd 1946 members of COAST GUARD units were transferred back into Regular Army units which continued post-war operations untilactivated on September 30th 1951 by order from President Harry S Truman pursuant to Executive Order 9207 which terminated Coast Guard jurisdiction over area south shore ofSan Diego Harbor effective November 15th 1951 .As part of National defense policy instituted following passage of The National Security Act Of 1947 coaling stations along US coasts became important components in Cold War strategy due their proximity to major ports used by enemy forces operating within continental US borders

Fort Morgan, Colorado is a small town located in Weld County, Colorado. The population was 2,902 at the 2010 census. Fort Morgan was founded in 1872 by United States Marines and War Department employees as a military outpost on the border of Utah and Arizona. It grew to become one of the largest post towns in western Colorado. The town was renamed for General George Armstrong Custer in 1906 and remains an important cultural center for the nearby Apache Nation.

Fort Morgan was founded in 1859 by the United States Army as part of a larger effort to secure the New Mexico Territory. The fort was strategically located on a high promontory overlooking the San Juan River and its forts were used to monitor Mexican activity in that area. The fort was garrisoned by 10 Infantry Companies, 1 Cavalry Squadron, 4 Artillery Regiments, 2 Light Artillery Companies and an attached detachment from the 9th Infantry Regiment. In 1861, Fort Morgan became known as Fort Bridger after General George A. Smith's command post upstream on the Colorado River. For many years it served as an important military outpost in what is now southeastern Colorado. From 1865-1868 Fort Morgan functioned as headquarters for Major General John Custer's cavalry division duringthe Ulysses S. Grant army's march across Iowa and Nebraska into Kansas. Afterward it reverted to Military Base status until 1862 when it became home to 1st Battalion California Volunteer Militia Infantry (later called "The Big Red One"). Fort Morgan also housed Civilian Conservation Corps camps during World War II. In 1954, following passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Fort Morgan passed from Military Base status to Joint Reserve Armory status under Title 11 of the US Code which provides municipal armories with jurisdiction over all other US Armories within their jurisdictional boundaries without first obtaining a deed or plot from said armory or its governing body - this happened concurrently with other joint reserve armories such as Cheyenne Mountain, Ft Greely and at least one at Waco, Texas which had also previously been Municipal Armies but had becomeDefense plants under NDAA authority
The first recorded mention of Fort Morgan is in 1812, when the fort was built to protect the Colorado River from Native American raiding. The fort was abandoned in 1848, and it wasn't until 1865 that it was reactivated as a military post. After becoming a military post, Fort Morgan served as a garrison for troops stationed along the Utah-Arizona border. The fort saw its most action during the Mexican–American War, when it was used to stores goods for General Scott's army. In 1912, Fort Morgan was renamed Camp Grant after Ulysses S. Grant, who had commanded both Union forces and Mexico's forces during the war. In 1925, Fort Morgan became part of the Department of Defense and underwent renovations that included an artificial beach and new buildings. Today,Fort Morgan is still a major military outpost in western Colorado with several hundred soldiers stationed here at any given time.
