In 1971, the company moved its headquarters to Denver, Colorado. In 1998, the company merged with Peet's Coffee Company to create Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc.
Fountain is a town in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. The population was 10,392 at the 2010 census. Fountain is a small, unincorporated community located east of Aspen on U.S. Highway 6A and north of Interstate 70. It overlooks Mesa Verde National Park to the south and the Garden of the Gods Reservoir to the east. In 1892, George Washington Carver settled in what would become Fountain after traveling through Rocky Mountain National Park on his way to found Midwestern carver country. Among other things, Carver established a school system and donated land for park features such as hiking trails and lakeside picnic sites. In 1925, Fountain's first post office opened with twenty-five mailboxes from nearby Aspen Creek Rancho El Dorado Grant No. 571 which later became part of Aspen Highlands Ranch District No. 2 (now USD 9). The area west of US 6A was annexed by Fountain in 1927 when it became part of Arvada Township; however, fountain still uses its original ZIP code 80123 due to its location within ranger district 2 boundaries only

Fountain was platted in 1886 and named after John Fountaine, an early settler there. The first post office was established in 1887. In 1907, Fountain became the site of the world's first self-service water fountain. The town has since grown to include a variety of businesses and services that make it a busy center for commerce and culture in the Front Range region of Colorado.

The population of Fountain grew to over 5,000 people by the early 20th century. In 1923, the United States Post Office moved from its original location to Fountain and the town quickly became a center for postal services and industry.
