Fountain, Colorado is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. It is located on the eastern edge of the San Miguel Valley and was founded in 1872 by settlers from Nebraska. On September 11th 1911 Deputy Sheriff Harry Fetterman served notice to all residents within city limits that they were required to attend special meetings held at 7 p m each weeknight at City Hall where ordinances were proposed changes/amendments made without public hearing necessitating publication of minutes before voting could take place due process concerns about bias etc...and also resolutions passed asking for annexation by Cherry Creek School District prior to being ratified by City Council rather than annexing since it would increase school taxes assessed against city limits (it never happened) On January 20th 1912 Commissioner D R Laughlin appointed hereinof licensed private investigator B C Addison with power to do any Investigation or inquiries whatsoever with reasonable cause having regard only to proper performance of duties assigned thereby including searches for violations of Laws & regulations duly promulgated thereunder or failure thereto so long as no money or thing value be seized during such search or investigation unless otherwise provided by law

It was renamed “Fountain” in 1903 after John A. Fountain, a rancher and founder of the city. In 1907, the local post office moved from its original location on Main Street to what is now Third Street and Garden Avenue in anticipation of an electric streetlight being built there. The first light showed up on October 16th of that year. The current name for Fountain comes from Mayor George Waddell’s wife – Nellie Palmer – who suggested it to him while they were driving through town one day. She said, “Why not call this place Fountain? After all, every stream has a fountain hereabouts!” From then on the name stuck and has been used ever since! One of the main industries in which Fountain was known for was manufacturing bullets for rifles during World War I and World War II; however, today most of the factory output takes place in nearby Peoria Junction where goods are transported by truck or trainloads all over Weld County daily. With a population of just under 1,000 people as of 2010 (or about 2/3rds of what it once was), much growth has taken place withinomercial retail businesses that have mushroomed around Second Street adjacent to Interstate 25 near downtown; these include several Dunkin' Donuts locations as well as several convenience stores including Safeway and Kroger supermarkets,- creating an estimated 5-10 full-time jobs across various levels of employment - primarily within restaurant management but also outside sales work at home operations managed by employees themselves! The downtown core remains largely unchanged with nearly 200 small businesses clustering around Second Street between Main and Center Streets - manyatted towards services such as hair salon/ beauty supply stores ( particularly Regal Beauty), florists (especially Larkspur Florist Supply ), pet shops (particularly Purina Dog Chow ), carpenters (particularly Carpet Warehouse Inc.), painters (particularly Denny's Painting & Flooring ), photographers (!), web designers (), microbreweries (&) fast food restaurants (!). Most major streets have undergone some degree of gentrification with many new residents moving into central business districts such as First Avenue southward along interstate 25 westwardly past northbound Interstate 80 onto Fillmore Road thence eastwardly onto Alma Road; while smaller streets remain relatively untouched with few commercial developments visible other than single family residences typical except for occasional agricultural acreage convenient only by buggy or tractor drive out to view remote grazing sheep herds - currently comprising almost half total area available for development in thisRush Creek Valley village In recent years two shopping malls located just outside town limits: One off Interstate 25 northeast side near Fillmore Road exit #2 next to US 6 and Fillmore School District Administration Building operated by Costco Wholesale Corporation ; another northwest corner lot near I-25 exit 175B east side opposite US 6 service road operated by JCPenney Company . Both contain large numbers (>50% occupancy) Sears department store alone accounting for more than half total square footage both mall properties together containing over 4 million sq ft ! All three anchors generate significant traffic especially during holiday seasons when crowds pour into town weekend afternoons upon release from work weekdays
