The United States Army National Guard has been a part of the American military since 1775. In Fruita, Colorado, the unit was first organized on December 3, 1912. The 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment was activated in Fruita on October 9, 1916 and served in World War I as an infantry battalion. After the war, the regiment was re-activated and redesignated as the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment on September 15, 1921. It served in World War II as a rifle battalion and then again redesignated as the 1st Battalion (8th Infantry), 14th Infantry Regiment on November 11, 1944. On January 6, 1951 the unit was Again redesignated as the 1st Battalion (14th Infantry) Colorado National Guard with Headquarters at Fort Carson. The battalion moved to Ft Douglas Air Force Base in 1966 and renamed it 3rd Battalion (14th Infantry) Colorado National Guard with Headquarters at Globe City before moving to Ft Lewis Air Force Base in 1987 where it is currently stationed. The history of the Fruita, Colorado Army National Guard starts with a small group of men who volunteered to fight for their country during World War I. In 1924, the army created the first battalion in Fruita and began recruiting men for service. The battalion grew over time and in 1938, it was renamed the 1st Infantry Regiment. In 1941, the regiment was redesignated as the 1st Infantry Division and in 1945, it became an all-volunteer division. In 1957, Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act which called for establishment of a National Guard in every state. The 1st Infantry Division was reorganized and its colors were given to two companies fromthe 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment. The regiment then served in Vietnam where it distinguished itself by its actions againstigon Viet Cong forces. After returning home, members of the regiment participated in various exercises until they were disbanded on September 14th 1972 due to budget cuts within the military.
Fruita, Colorado is a small town located in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. The population was 1,814 at the 2000 census. Fruita is the county seat of Fremont County. The mountain ranges that make up the west side of Fruita form the border between Fremont and Montrose counties. The first people to live in this area were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game in what is now Fruita. They built their houses out of logs and brush until they came into contact with European settlers in the mid-19th century. In 1868, John Custer , an American officer on horseback, discovered gold coins near present day Fruita when he was searching for Indians who had been trading with him for supplies along his expedition's route to Fort Bridger . A group of men from nearby Pueblo decided to start a settlement around these coins so they named it after Custer's discovery - Pueblo City . Pueblo City grew quickly but became too isolated from other parts of Western Colorado so colonists began to move into fruitgrowing areas such as Fruita in search of grazing land and more fertile soil. By 1890, there were over 100 people living in Pueblo City and fruit growing had become an important part of its economy. In 1907, farmers founded the Fruita Electric Light Company which became one ofColorado's leading electric light companies . In 1949, a tornado ripped through downtown Pueblo City leaving many homes undamaged but numerous stores destroyed or damaged including ABC Department Store which was then bought by JCPenney . After years of development (including Interstate 25 being built through town), today only a few buildings remain from pre-war days - most notably Citrus Bakery which still serves delicious refreshments inside its original building! A number of industries have thrived within community since World War II including agriculture, trucking and warehousing; however it’s recent history has included several restaurant closures due to lack thereof customers or competition from larger stores across town center; however some new businesses have taken hold such as The Dog House Brewery & Grill which opened in 2009 adjacent to Citrus Bakery making it one stop shopping for all your beer needs!
The modern army is one of the most complex and versatile militaries on the planet. Today, there are over 1.4 million soldiers in uniform around the world, making it one of the largest armies in terms of manpower on Earth. Since its inception in 1795, the army has been through many changes and has seen a number of different types of uniforms and equipment. Over time, different countries have also developed their own military traditions and customs that have influenced how members of the army interact with each other. This paper will explore some of these traditions and customs behind Army gift history. Army gift history can be traced back to at least 1795 when an organization called The Royal Welch Fusiliers was founded in England specifically to provide assistance to the British Crown during wartime. At this point, there was no military equivalent to what we now call an “army” within Great Britain. As war continued to rage across Europe, various militias were formed as part ofresponse to hostilities. In 1814, King George IV declared martial law in England following a series of rebellions that had broken out throughout Great Britain since he came into power two years earlier (the first being against his father). As a result, all able-bodied men between 25 and 55 years old were required by royal decree to join up with The Royal Welch Fusiliers or go fight for their countrymen in European wars against France and Spain (this decree is still cited today as one of the earliest examples of compulsory service within an organized military). With so many people enlisted into battle on both sides during World War I, it became increasingly difficult for commanders to find enough volunteers who were willing and able to sign up for long periods OF service (or even just three months). So instead, more soldiers were drafted from among those who had already volunteered or been conscripted into the armed forces at a younger age (usually 16 or 18 years old). This trend continued until 1925 when General Sir John French decided that all future draftees would need at least four years full-time training before they could be considered for active duty (this decision was later followed by President Franklin D.) Roosevelt who saw World War II as an opportunityto improve upon America’s weak military posture relative to other nations (at this point America had only 6200 troops stationed overseas compared To Germany’s 1000000+).[1] In 1938–1939 Nazi Germany invaded Poland which led directly into World War II; however due largely to American intervention(and France’s refusal) Nazi Germany did not gain complete control over Poland until 1945 after successful negotiations overseen by United Nations delegates(including Churchill)). Fruita, Colorado was founded in 1907 by J.P. Fraser and his wife, Nellie. The first post office at Fruita was established in 1907. The town of Fruita was named after the fruit that grew around the original homesteads. By 1915, there were over 100 people living in the small community. In 1916, a sawmill and millrace were built in the community and soon became one of the most important economic engines in Fruita. In 1925, a state highway was built through Fruita and it quickly became an important artery for traffic between Pueblo and Greeley. In 1957, a new high school was built in Fruita and has served as the center of town since then. In 1978, a library opened in the town and continues to serve as its primary source of information today.
