Golden, Colorado is a city located in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. The population was 5,730 at the 2010 census. Gourmet coffee first began to be popularized in Golden during the early 1800s when plantation owners started to import coffee from South America. Gourmet coffee became increasingly popular throughout the 19th century as immigrants moved into Golden and began to taste this type of coffee for themselves. Today, Golden continues to be a center for gourmet coffee because of its unique geography and history. The first gourmet coffee shop in Golden opened in 1892. The shop was run by Russian immigrants who were trying to find a place where they could sell their goods directly to consumers instead of through local merchants. At that time, gourmet coffee was still new and not well-known outside of its native countries. As early as 1893, there were several small businesses selling gourmet Coffee in Golden; however, it wasn’t until 1907 that a large grocery store called Kroger opened up and began stocking Columbian Coffee beans direct from South America. This gave people access to high quality beans at an affordable price point that they hadn’t been able to find before. By 1920, there were over 20 different types of gourmet Coffee shops operating in Golden; however, only two remained open long enough keep pace with changes within the industry and outside competition. One of these stores was called The Blonde Lion which closed its doors in 1978 after more than 60 years serving customers with world-renowned roasts from around the globe. In 2006, another store called Café Momo reopened after being vacant for 17 years due to fire damage done during remodeling efforts inside the building.$ sporadic visits over many years led owner Judy Wehnerto close her business on December 6th.,2012 just short of her 75th birthday celebration $ she had been running Cafe Momo since 1984 & purchased it from previous landlord Eileen Heckerbach who had operated itsince1978

In 1638, a group of Englishmen set out from London on a voyage to discoveries in what is now North America aboard the ship Discovery and returned with rich cargo of beans that they named “Dutch Coffee” after their port of origin. During the Revolutionary War (1775-83), several shipments went missing from Boston harbor due to smuggling operations by Martin van Buren, who later became president of the United States (1789-1801). Van Buren is credited with introducing coffee into America during his time as Secretary at war under George Washington (1785-1800). Aftermath from these smuggling activities gave rise to an industry called “coffee piracy” which caused prices for beans to go up dramatically on the market. However, through good marketing techniques and investment by entrepreneurs like Seth Godin and Tim Ferriss, coffee started becoming more affordable for American consumers over time. This increase in affordability helped create a demand for quality beans that continues even today; one reason why some people consider cupcakes or donuts as better substitutes for real espresso shots when enjoying a morning Joe or Latte macchiato at home!
