Coffee first came to Grand Junction in the early 1800s. A small familyowned store called The Coffee House served coffee and tea from a small shop on Main Street. In 1872, The Coffee House was replaced by the present-day Grand Junction Creamery. The creamery produced milk, coffee, and other products for local residents and businesses. It closed in 1953 but reopened in 1984 as the First National Coffee Emporium. It continued to operate until it went out of business in 1990. In 2006, the current owners of the First National Coffee Emporium restored its facade and re-opened as a retail store selling coffee beans, creams, pastries, and other food items.
Grand Junction, Colorado is a small town in the southwestern corner of Colorado. The population was 9,572 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the edge of Mesa County and includes the communities of Aspen, Arapaho, Barton Springs, Belle Fourche, Bloomfield Hills, Boulder City, Brighton, Carbondale-Hastings Airport and Crestmore. The first settler in what is now Grand Junction was James Irvine in 1876. In 1881 a post office called "Irvine" was established in what is now Grand Junction. The name changed to "Grand Junction" in 1907 when it became a city. The area that makes up today's Grand Junction was first inhabited by Native American peoples who hunted and gathered game there for sustenance. The first European settlers arrived in 1776 with George Washington's army as part of his march from Fort Leavenworth to Denver. They were Mormon pioneers who had traveled from Utah via Independence Creek settlements to claim land within the newly formed United States. Most of these pioneers died during or after the winter of 1777-1778 when snowdrifts reached unprecedented heights and blocked their retreat from Indian Territory east of Mesa County. A post office called "Aspen," which served Aspen and Gunnison counties until 1861, was established at present-day Aspen on February 14th, 1860 (the day before Fort Laramie opened). On July 12th 1863 an act providing for organization of townships within Mesa County was filed with Secretary Of State John Cranch by Elisha Saunders; this act created six townships: Anaconda (including present-day Grand Junction), Aubrey ( Including Bloomfield Hills ), Bartons Springs(including present-day Boulder City), Brighton (including present-day Boulder), Carbondale Hastings Airport(including present-day Crestmore)and Defiance(includingpresentDay Defiance). These townships would become part of Mesa County on January 1st 1866 when portions thereof were included in Carson National Forest east OF Garfield Avenue & south Of Pueblo Boulevard . On October 15th 1870 an act creating Carbon County was filed With Secretary Of State Isaac Stevens; this act provided for organization OF Carbon Counties including Butte Valley , Canon City , Cutler Valley , Eagle Pass , Estes Park / Keystone / Golden/ Harvey Ranch & Islay Ranch . These counties would become partof Denver county on November 29th 1912 when portions thereof were combined with Arapaho county to form that area’s second largest municipality – grand junction

Coffee began to be traded around the world during the Middle Ages. In 1207, Turkish traders discovered coffeebeans while travelling through Arabia. They brought this new discovery back to Europe where it soon became popular. Coffee was also being traded between Asia and Africa during this time. The Dutch started brewing coffee at their own warehouses in 1653. This recipe differed from earlier European methods which used water or milk only to produce a weak drink that gave people headaches after drinking too much of it. The early Dutch brewers learned about how to roast coffee beans properly so that they would become strong and flavorful without using additional chemicals or dyes. This high-quality coffee quickly spread throughout Europe thanks to the efforts of missionaries such as Father Pierre L’Enfant who traveled extensively throughout many parts of the continent discovering new cultures and food products while preaching Christianity to indigenous peoples. After exploring Java and other areas of Indonesia, Father L’Enfant reported back on his findings on July 3, 1781 – three months before his death – with what he called “the most perfect cup of coffee ever found upon earth”

By 1880, however, the population had swelled to over 100 people and development continued apace; new homes were built on land that still stands today. The railroad arrived in Grand Junction at a critical time for the town; it connected local farms with markets all across western Colorado. One such market was at Pikes Peak – where timber was being harvested for construction materials – which helped to spur development throughout the early years of Grand Junction’s existence. Businesses soon began to thrive thanks to cheap transportation options available due to increased competition fromDenverites looking for cheaper housing prices than those found near downtown or even outside of town. By 1907, when Interstate 70 was completed nearby, business opportunities grew even more as commuters rushed between Denver and this growing metropolis on foot or on horseback. At this point, many residents started referring to their hometown as “Granjon” because it seemed like everything they did led back there! Businesses kept expanding until World War IIwhen industry stopped contributing significantly to GDP but employment stayed high nonetheless due to military contracts lasting right up until…the war! In contrast to other parts of America during wartime where factories were turned into smoky warehouses filled with lots of machines that didn’t produce anything but smoke, here at Granjon things were different: we made munitions! And not just any munitions; we made explosives! Which is why you can find grandiose mills everywhere you go nowadays – testament both to how well-established Granjon had become by then (and also because so many people still work here) and also Presumably because bombs are really fun?
: The towns of Grand Junction and Cortez, located on the banks of the Rio Grande in western Colorado, were founded by Spanish settlers in 1824. Cortez was first settled by Mexicans in 1827, while Grand Junction was founded by English colonists in 1828. Both towns became part of the United States following independence from Spain in 1848. Grand Junction became a city in 1912 and Cortez did so two years later.
