Greenwood is a town in Routt County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,508 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is located in the western edge of Routt County on Hwy 287. The first white person to live in Greenwood was Jedediah Smith in 1848. In 1864, Greenwood became the county seat of Routt County after Columbine Valley became part of the new county. It was moved to its present location in 1870 when Rocky Mountain Arsenal and other west-centralColorado businesses relocated to what is now east-central Greenwood from eastern Riverside County.
