Greenwood, Colorado is a small town in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. It is located on the west bank of the Arkansas River and is bordered by Pueblo to the north, Loveland to the east, and Vail to the south. The population was 1,021 at the 2010 census. Greenwood was named for James Greenwood, an early settler in this area. The origins of Greenwood are obscure but it may be that it was named after General James A. Garfield who died in 1881 while serving as Ulysses S. Grant’s Vice President. Whatever its origin, Greenwood became a thriving community during the late 19th century due to its location and accessibility to water resources. In addition to its natural advantages (location on a bend in a river), Greenwood also enjoyed other factors such as its well-developed industry (such as lumber) and excellent schools which helped drive economic development throughout much of northwestern Colorado during this time period. Although many people from Greenwood commute into Pueblo or Loveland for work each day, there are also several restaurants and businesses located in town that offer unique food experiences not found elsewhere in northwest Colorado. This renaissance occurred despite difficult times for both menial jobs and manufacturing during these years; however, today's economy has undergone significant transformation thanks in part to new investment from within Lookout Valley Ranch Resort & Casino which sits adjacent to town along Interstate 25 between Denver and Boulder

Greenwood Colorado is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is one of the last remaining towns in Weld County and has been part of the area since it was organized as a county in 1876. It is named after Greenwood Forest, located about 12 miles (19 km) east of the present-day town. The first permanent settler in what would become Greenwood was A.L. Hisey who came to the area around 1875 when he purchased 2,000 acres (800 ha) of land from John Atlee Hunt for $5 per acre ($30 per hectare). Hisey built a log cabin on his land and started growing corn and hay for his cattle. Many other pioneers followed suit over the years until all but six of the original settlers left by 1906 due to various reasons including social unrest caused by railroad construction nearby, competition from larger towns within Weld County or lack thereof, or natural disasters such as floods that destroyed homes and crops. The exception was Wm Fenton who arrived in 1907 and began helping with crop production before moving away two years later to start his own farmstead near Aspen Creek Reservoir which he continued to operate until his death in 1948. The first post office opened in Greenwood on October 15, 1886; its name was changed to Great Meadows soon after because there were no more trees available along Cooks Road (now Interstate 25). In 1914, an addition were platted adjacent to what is now Main Street: this became known as Old Town Greenwood because most of its development occurred after that date. By 1930 there were only 100 residents living in Old Town Greenwood while 3 mile (4 km) east on Main Street lived new growth called New Town Greenwood which developed into a large city with over 10 thousand residents by 1960. During World War II much activity took place near Greenwood due to its strategic location as a military airbase used for bombardment of American cities like Denver and Boulder during hostilities between America and Japan; however it closed shortly afterwards without ever fully utilized due to budgetary problems encountered during war time economies across all branches of government at that point in history. In 1994 much redevelopment took place around old military installations with many new businesses being opened up inside former warehouses/factories converted into apartments/condo complexes; this led eventually to Old City Plaza becoming home directly to several major retail chains today while portions closer downtown have been redeveloped again into mixed use buildings featuring both residential units and commercial space currently occupied by several high-end restaurants including Benaroya Hall & Cafe & Brewery as well as several smaller retailers serving mainly local cuisine like Trueba's Pizza Provisions & Taproom etc.. With rapidly increasing population density throughout Weld County resulting from increased immigration over recent decades particularly among lower income families numerous civic organizations have emerged advocating for special policy/programmatic considerations when making decisions about planning or zoning regarding transportation access etc.; these include Volunteer Firefighters Association Inc., Rocky Mountain Citizens League Inc., Greater Greeley Chamber of Commerce etc.. However despite some progress made over recent decadesvironnementally speaking Greenwald remains largely unchanged with few notable exceptions
Greenwood was founded in 1876 by James Greenwood and his wife, Eliza. It is the oldest continuously operating town in Colorado. The community is located on the east side of Greenwood Lake, about 15 miles northeast of downtown Denver. The population of Greenwood peaked at 2,500 in 1920 and has been declining since then.
