Maga Coffee began as a humble act of kindness. For many years, Carlos Santana would stop by his friends’ homes to sell them some of his special beans from his farm near Greenwood Village. He knew that these beans would be a valuable addition to their morning routine, so he started selling them directly to consumers through his stores and online platforms. Today, maga coffee continues its journey around the world with branches located in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Barcelona, Spain; Copenhagen, Denmark; Madrid, Spain; Rome, Italy; Prague Castle, Czech Republic; Venice Beach California; Paris France; Amsterdam Netherlands) as well as several Canadian provinces including Alberta and Nova Scotia. The popularity of maga coffee has compelled organizations like World Coffee Day (WCD) to create events specifically devoted to this unique type of coffee. In recent years WCD has become an annual event where participating countries receive prizes based on their level of participation in WCD events such as matching funds for qualifying projects or hosting official sessions at international trade shows related to coffee industry issues. Greenwood, Colorado is a small town located in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Greenwood was founded in 1901 by settlers from Greenville, Wyoming. It became a municipality in 1912 and remains an agricultural community with a small population today. The first residents of Greenwood were farmers who came to the area around 1875 during the Gold Rush. The town sprang up around this time because there was no other place to be found for people to live and work. Many of the early pioneers were Methodists and they named their new community after one of their churches in England: Greenwood Methodist Church (later renamed as First United Methodist). The days of farming have long been gone by now and many residents are now involved in businesses such as aluminum production or ranching operations. One of the most famous citizens of Greenwood is Orville Wirtz, who is best known for his role as founder and CEO of Wirtz Steel Company. He started this business while still a student at Western State Teachers College in Denver which he later left to become mayor of Greenwood Village before returning to teach full-time at Western State until his death in 2003. Another notable figure from earlier times is William Brougham, who served two terms as mayor before moving on to become chief executive officer at Waterton Lakes Resort & Casino where he still resides today.
Greenwood was founded in 1876 by James Greenwood, a pioneer rancher and settler. The town became a post office in 1878, and a school was built in 1880. In 1886, Greenwood had its first public library. In 1916, Greenwood became part of the new county of Pueblo.
