Lafayette, Colorado is a small city in the U.S. state of Colorado. The population was 10,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lafayette is located on Interstate 25 and has a total area of only 0.6 square miles (1 km²). The city began as two small villages—Ferguson and Lafayette—near where I-25 now intersects Highway 50 in 1950. In 1957, when I-25 was realigned to its current routing, Lafayette became one of the first towns along that route to be bypassed by it entirely and connected instead by local roads to Aurora via rural routes. In 1960, when Interstate 70 was built through central Colorado Springs and adjoining municipalities, Lafayette became an important interchange for motorists coming from east Boulder or west Fort Collins into those cities; however, it retained its own ZIP code until 1984 when it joined the new postal district based in downtown Denver. As per federal law then in effect, all residents of outlying areas were required to provide their own mail service if they had no postal address within 1 mile (2 km) of their house or business; this effectively caused most people living within 1 mile (2 km) of downtownDenver to switch over to USPS delivery service even though they still received mail from their old municipal mailing addresses within that distance - something which still happens today as long as you have an old street address inside of 1 mile (2 km) of your house or business again
As coffee beans were first brought to Europe in the 16th century, they were often roasted by small-scale farmers. In the early days of coffee production, roasting was done in open fires, as there was no way to control the flavor and quality of coffee. With time, however, more sophisticated methods of roasting began to become popular. One method used during the 18th century was to roast coffee using a copper pan placed on an open fire. The resulting smoke caused the beans to develop a distinctive flavor that is still remembered today. In 1847, a Dutchman named Jacob Heine started producing fresh ground coffee at his house in Amsterdam. He did this because he believed that freshness mattered for cafés and other cafes serving breakfast and lunchtime customers. At first he roasted his own beans, but soon he began selling bags of ground caffeine from his shop window. Soon other merchants followed suit and began importing whole bean coffees from Holland so that they could be roasted themselves. By 1870, almost every café in Amsterdam had its own roaster! The popularity of artisan coffee continued until about World War II when it slowly faded away due to wartime rationing. However, some smaller-time roasters kept up the tradition until well into the 21st century! The first cafés opened in the 1860s in Paris and London. Roasters began producing their own coffee in the early 1920s. The first World Cup of Coffee was held in 1960 and was won by Indonesia.
Lafayette is a town located in Garfield County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Lafayette was named after General Lafayette who fought in the French and Indian War. The first post office in Lafayette opened on July 8, 1875. The current post office building was built in 1895. Lafayette is one of the oldest towns in Garfield County and has been around since 1875 when it was platted as a townsite by J.B. Parsons and Elisha Lacey of Denver. A two-story log school house served as the town's first municipal building until 1888 when a gristmill and store were built there also. In early 1800s this area included what is now known as Montrose Township according to an official plat from that year which lists both El Paso (now Aurora) Creek and Lafayette as portions of the township name . As development took hold within the limits of present day Lafayette, business proprietors decided to establish their homes near present day Main Street and Park Avenue making that street one of earliest commercial corridors in this community dating back to about 1880 . By 1889 services had been established for farmers along Park Avenue with a general store, harness shop, blacksmith shop, apiary and other farm operations including dues barn which still stands today along that artery off US Highway 6 south of town on east side just past Forest Service Road 2
