In the early 1900s, Littleton was a small town in southern Colorado. It was known for its aviation industry and for being one of the first towns to adopt Aviation Day as an annual holiday. In 1915, the Littleton Air Force Base was established and the town began to welcome military members and their families with air shows, fly-ins, and other events. The Littleton Air Force Base played an important role in World War II. During that time, it housed more than 1,500 military personnel and their families. Many of these people contributed their time and resources to help America fight in war. Some of the famous residents of Littleton who served in the military include Lt. Col. John Hanchett (USAAF), Colonel Harry Tilton (USAAF), General James Doolittle (USAAF), Admiral Chester Nimitz (Navy), Rear Admiral David Sarnoff (Airlines Corporation), Major General Leslie Groves (Army Corps of Engineers) – among many others. Littleton is still home to a large number of military members who have passed away since 1945. The community has also made significant contributions to aviation through its various aircraft manufacturing businesses and research institutions that are located at Littleton AFB today.
The USAF deploys a wide variety of gifts to its military and civilian units. From small things like mugs or keychains to larger items such as computers, watches, and clothing. One of the more recent requests from the USAF has been for air force personnel to contribute their time and effort in order to create new statues of service members who have died in action. These statues are usually created by local artisans in honor of those who have made great contributions to the USAF either through their service or their sacrifices on the battlefield. The campaign started back in 2006 when then-Chief Master Sergeant (CMS) Randy Woodell placed an order for 12 miniature bronze soldiers representing Air Force personnel who had died in action since 9/11. The statue was funded by anonymous donors and is currently located at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington. It features Sgt. Michael Ahern from Roswell Park Memorial Hospital fame and is dedicated to all those serving our nation with PTSD after September 11th tragic events.
The Colorado Air National Guard's 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division deploys a gift history in Littleton on October 15. The brigade is expected to deployments for three months and will bring back gifts from more than 30 different countries.

The Air Force began its history as a small branch of the military, providing basic aviation services. In 1941, however, Congress designated the Air Force as an independent service with a single mission: to provide combat airpower for American war efforts. The Air Force grew rapidly in size and capabilities during World War II, becoming one of America's most important fighting forces. During the Cold War era, airpower played an ever-growing role in American strategic planning. The USAF became operational with nuclear weapons in 1949. Since then, it has operated both as a conventional arm of government and as a nucleararmed strategic force. In 2013, the USAF celebrated its centenary with an aggressive modernization program that saw it become one of only two U.S armed forces (the Navy is also centuries old) equipped with jet fighters and attack helicopters。 Today, there are over 1 million service members deployed around the world in more than 60 countries; assets such as fighter jets and bombers provide critical cover for coalition military operations; and missile batteries defend our allies from Russian aggression or terrorist threats across multiple continents. In addition to its primary purpose – protecting our citizens – air power is also widely relied upon by homeland security agencies such as Customs and Border Protection and firefighting services throughout North Americaand Europe. As we continue to develop new technologies and improve our lethality against enemies on all platforms, we know that flying low is key to success when waging war – especially against adversaries like Russia or ISIS who can use airspace to launch attacks at home or abroad.

Littleton is a small town in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Littleton is part of the Fort Collins–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Littleton were the Arapaho and Cheyenne. They were nomadic hunters and gatherers who roamed across what is now western Colorado until they were pushed out by the Comanche and Kiowa in 1827. The Arapaho returned after a few years and hunted with their new neighbors for many years before moving on again. In 1868, gold was found near Tourmaline Hill in southeastern Douglas County and soon afterwards miners began arriving to placer mine around Tourmaline Hills and other hills that lay within or near Littleton. In 1870, a post office was established at Littleton (renaming it Denver on December 1st), which became an important transportation center because of its location on both the Santa Fe Trail north to Ft. Collins as well as east-west trails connecting Aspen, Lafayette, Loveland, Greeley, Morrisonville, Northglenn (now Englewood), Centennial Springs (later Telluride), Durango, La Junta (later Alamosa) and Trinidad (now Black Mesa). In 1872 Carlin Wagoner opened a stagecoach stop called "The Crystal Palace" off of US Highway 6 just south of present day Main Street in what is now known as "Wagons End". This stop offered passengers refreshments such as cold drinks and cigars while waiting for their rides to take them into town or elsewhere within Douglas County. wagoner also sold goods from his shop inside the passenger carriages including saddles for horses; hats; feather boas; beads; minerals; cattle feeders; ovens made from logs heated over an open fire using coals from nearby hillsides
Littleton is a city in and the county seat of Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 24,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood area. Littleton was founded in 1867 by James W. Haggerty as a cattle ranch outside present-day Denver. The first post office in town was established in 1870. In 1888, Littleton incorporated as a city under the name of McKinneyville. On November 3, 1912, Littleton became an official state capital when it became the 36th state to be created by the United States Constitution. The history of Littleton can be traced back to 1867 when James W. Haggerty founded what would become known as "Haggerty's Ranch" outside present day Denver after purchase of 640 acres (250 hectares) from Peter Prentice and his partner David Ayer for $10 per acre ($270 per km²). The ranch would later grow to 1,500 acres (600 hectares). On July 6, 1870, Haggerty opened a post office located east of downtown Littleton with mail service coming only once a week due to difficult terrain and lack of infrastructure at that time. In 1888 local businessmen organized what would become known as the "Four Horsemen", which consisted of George Washington Parkman (founder and first president of Rocky Mountain News), Cravath & Swaine attorney Jno Nolen (founder and first editor-in-chief ofDenver Post), and banker Charles Fenton Amos (chartered agent for First National Bank). They met on October 5 at Parkman's home in Golden Gate Park to discuss forming an association for business purposes within their respective fields that could better advocate for themselves both locally and statewide; this group would come to be known as "The Four Horsemen". On November 3rd 1912 Littleton became an official state capital when it became 36th U S State To Be Created
