A large shopping center called Park Plaza was built adjacent to Interstate 25 and south of I-25 exit 12A near what is now Valley View Elementary School (now Vallejo Elementary School) from 1984 until 2009 when it closed due to financial difficulty caused by tight housing values resulting from low commodity prices throughout much of North America during that time period following the global economic collapse known as "the Great Recession". In early 2019, Littleton announced plans for a new downtown development which will include over 100 new homes with street parking and more than 20 restaurants and nightlife venues including an arena used for professional wrestling events since 1997 according to information released by developers themselves;[1] little progress has been made since then so far with no signs that any shovels will be turned up soon
