The company was founded by Emanuel Lebbez in 1901, and produces a wide variety of specialty coffees including Kona Coffee, Peet's Coffee, and Caza de Arándanos. While Emmanuel Lebbez is often considered to be the father of artisanal coffee, his company has been making beautiful cups of coffee for centuries before that. One of the oldest known roasting establishments in Europe was The Roastery at Gouda in Netherlands which opened in 1618. This establishment was responsible for bringing white beans from Africa to Europe where they were roasted into delicious coffees such as Java Hoevegte and Brugge Beersheba. However, it wasn't until Emanuel Lebbez started working at his own business that he truly got his start with coffee brewing. At first, he brewed single origin coffees only for himself and his family; however, over time he began to expand his production capabilities and begin manufacturing different types of coffee products such as Keurig machines and iced drinks. In addition to his amazing cup of Joe, Emanuel also pioneered many innovative methods during his years at EmmanuelLebbez Coffee Company including using small batches (averaging 1-2 ounces per batch), cold storage instead of hot storage/,and using more environmentallyfriendly materials like recycled paper cups than traditional stainless steel cups. Since EmanuelLebbez Coffee Company's inception there have been many other noteworthy roasters who've helped shape artisanal coffee culture around the world: Saint John's Artisan Coffee Co., Belgrade Roast House International Ltd., Blue Bottle Coffee & Cafe LLC., Baratza Italy LTD., Four Barrel Brewing Co., Stumptown Roasters Inc., Counter Culture Brewery Ltd..
