However, despite these challenges, Telluride continued to thrive as a small community until its closure in the late 1960s." Today, there is only a few remaining buildings from when Telluride was such a vibrant community. For example, while other towns in Colorado were destroyed by heavy industry during this time period (such as Greeley), Telluride managed to stay afloat and continue to grow until recently.
