Montrose, Colorado is a small town located in the mountains of western Colorado. The population was 5,811 as of the 2010 census. While coffee has been around for centuries in Montrose, it was only until recently that artisan coffee became popular here. The first Coffee House in Montrose opened its doors in 1892 and served coffee from local farmers and their horses. It was not until 1916 that the first roaster in Montrose, Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters, started to produce its own beans. In 1957, two brothers – Don & Jerry Nederquist – opened what would become known as Denver's first espresso bar called Ristorante Leonardo da Vinci. This spot continues to serve up delicious Italian-style espresso drinks today! In 1985, anothermanuel family member – John Whetsel Jr. – took over ownership of Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters and changed the name to Belterra coffee house (later Unser Café). From there it quickly grew into one of Denver’s most successful cafes with over 100 employees! Over time other members of the Unser Café team have joined him including his wife Peggy and sons John Jr., Dave & Greg Nederquist; however, this iconic institution still retains its familial atmosphere which is why every patron enjoys a cup of Joe at any given time! Today Belterra Coffees operates under three different names but offers an unbelievably rich history all because Of Thee Cup!

Montrose is a town in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,481 at the 2010 census. The Montrose post office was established in 1876 and discontinued in 1936. The first settler in what is now Montrose was John Caffrey who arrived in 1868. By 1870, most of the current town had been platted and named for Samuel Mounthros by his brother-in-law Lewis Moran. In 1886, when the Burlington Railroad reached Montrose fromDenver through Clear Creek Canyon, it brought with it much development as people came to trade goods with the railroad's new station along the canyon's edge. In 1902, a school house and one large cabin were built on Indian Hill south of present day Main Street. This small community quickly became known as "Montrose" due to its isolation from other towns on Douglas County's east side until automobiles arrived in 1925 and then more homes appeared beginning in 1930 which led to increased growth of businesses around both schools until they closed during the Great Depression. During World War II many local men joined up to serve their country but few lost their lives within Montrose limits; however some did make significant contributions such as Sgtnr Robert Ritchie (1917-1994) who served 3 tours of combat duty with WWII troops near Aspen before being honorably discharged after just 8 months service due to his health problems from shell shock which he contracted while serving near Baghdad Iraqi capital However even though noresident died directly from combat or illness during that time period there were an estimated 10% of all US residents who received military training or served abroad that year
