The Montrose Coast Guard Station was established in 1915. The station is a part of the Department of Public Safety and is responsible for the enforcement of state laws regulating the navigability of inland waterways, coastal waters, and marine resources in Montrose County. The Coast Guard Station provides law enforcement and security services to individuals, businesses, and government agencies on both land and water in the Montrose County area. In addition to providing these services, the Coast Guard Station also offers volunteer opportunities for those interested in becoming a member or officer of the Coast Guard. Since 1915, the Coast Guard Station has been hand-delivering gifts to individuals who have made a difference for their community. Some of these gift recipients include soldiers during World War I, firefighters during Hurricane Harvey, local elected officials during State Fair week (including Governor John Hickenlooper), members of Congress during National Day celebrations, as well as many more! Montrose is a small town in southern Colorado that was founded in 1879 by John Montrose. The population of Montrose was 5,000 at the time of its incorporation and has grown to over 10,000 today. Montrose is located on the Uncompahgre Plateau near the foot of Mount Carmel and overlooks the Gunnison Valley. The town is bordered by Aspen to the north, Nederland to the east, Pueblo to the south, and Arapaho County to the west. The first settlers in Montrose were pastoralists who platted what is nowMontrose Township in 1879. In 1886, John Montrose donated land for a school which became one of four schools in town. In 1903, another donation led to construction of a library which still operates today. Montrose has been home to many notable people including Ulysses S Grant and Jules Verne both before they moved on to larger places and role models for their successors. One recent resident, Dr. Laura Everson Boyer-Lambert, became internationally known as a surgeon with groundbreaking treatments for childhood leukemia after she moved here from California in 2001. In 2007,montroser named their local mountain after former president George H W Bush following his visit here during his presidential campaign tour of America’s Great Plains region
The Coast Guard has been providing service to the United States since 1790. The service has seen many changes and evolution over the years, but one of the most important aspects of their role is providing safety and security on our nation’s coastline. From emergency response to maritime law enforcement, the Coast Guard plays an essential role in keeping America’s waters safe and secure. In 1879, the first coast guard station was set up on Long Island. This gave rise to the idea that a coast guard would be present on every US state’s coastline. In 1912, Congress passed a bill giving the Coast Guard jurisdiction over all US coasts “except as respects Hawaii and Puerto Rico”. This gave rise to today’s system where each state has its own coast guard department responsible for patrolling their respective coasts with a focus on maritime law enforcement. Today, there are more than 16,000 Coast Guardsmen assigned to duty around the world. They work together with other Federal agencies including Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Secret Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), National Defence Authorization Act Authorized Agency for Homeland Security Investigations (NDAA-HSI) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). In addition to their duties within their states/territories they also provide support services through Incident Command Post locations across America which allow commanders from different sectors access to information about incidents or problems along specific borders or areas of interest. One of the most important things that they do is respond quickly when called upon by local residents who may be experiencing a problem on their shoreline such as an accident or search warrant being executed near their home or business. In 2015 alone, 1,600 responses were made to calls coming from beach communities nationwide!
The Coast Guard gift history dates back to 1919 when the Coast Guard's predecessor, the United States Revenue Cutter Service, began purchasing small boats and sea chests for use as auxiliary patrols. These Initially unarmed vessels were given out as gifts to fellow officers and men of the service. In 1948, the Coast Guard purchased its first large ship, the H.M.S. Defiant, which became its primary patrol vessel until 1984 when it was replaced by the larger H.M.S. Plymouth. The next year saw the purchase of two more large ships-the H.M.S. John F Kennedy and H.M . Midshipman’s Mate James Crippen-which led to the development of a coast guard fleet that included both patrol vessels and customs enforcement units in addition to larger command vessels such as H .M .S . Constitution and H .M .S . George Washington (now part of museum collection).

He named his new community after his father-in-law, Alexander Graham Bell who had died two years earlier in Arapaho County near Topeka, Kansas .
