The Northglenn Coast Guard Station has been in operation since 1911. The Coast Guard is responsible for the security of our state’s coastline and waters. They provide primary law enforcement and emergency response to coastal communities, with a focus on preventing crime, rescuing people in distress, and providing education about boating safety. The Coast Guard Station was founded on December 17, 1911 when a group of men from Northglenn decided to form a local coast guard station in order to protect the area from shipwrecks and other dangers afloat. It wasn’t until 1913 that the first officer was hired at the station. Since then, the Coast Guard Station has grown significantly- now they have an annex located adjacent to their main building which houses 2 helicopters as well as 3 boats. Additionally, they have developed a number of unique programs such as Coastal Patrol which offers instruction on how to operate any type of vessel while fishing or swimming; Lifejackets for Kids which teaches kids about water safety; crabbing/fishing trips which allow children to experience some of the best fishing in town; and even music festivals! Most importantly though, through all these years they have always remained dedicated to their community - working closely with local businesses and organizations in order to ensure that everyone is safe when out sailing or paddling around town. And most importantly- they continue making sure that no one is ever lost due to weather or navigation issues!

Smith and his wife Susan Blythe. The town grew rapidly due to its location near the Uncompahgre River and its access to railroad transportation. Northglenn became a city in 1907 and experienced rapid growth during the 1920s and 1930s due to its industrial base. The city experienced significant financial decline during the 1990s through the impact of telecommunications development and other economic factors.Today, Northglenn remains an agricultural center with a diverse range of businesses including agricultural processing plants, cheese factories, lumber mills and oil refineries.
The Coast Guard has been a part of the American experience since its inception in 1790. The first coast guard station was established at Cape May, New Jersey on December 12, 1790. The Coast Guard was created to keep the coasts and waters around America safe from contraband and piracy. In 1927, the Coast Guard acquired its own air defense system, which later became known as the National Air Defense System (NADS). In 1935, the Coast Guard purchased radar equipment to provide warning of approaching vessels. In 1947, the Coast Guard assumed control of all U.S. merchant marine traffic and began providing security for U.S.-bound ships traveling through international waters. In 1966,Congress designated March 15th as "National Naval Day" in recognition of Coast Guards' contributions to maritime security throughout history. 1990 marked the 50th anniversary of the creation of NOAA; it was then that NOAA began providing essential coastal weather information along with other homeland security initiatives such as hurricane surveillance and emergency response services during natural disasters like hurricanes Katrina and Rita

Northglenn was founded in 1882 by John and Anna Northglenn and named for Andrew Johnson, President of the United States at the time. It became an incorporated town in 1907. Northglenn is home to the University of Northern Colorado and also has a number of businesses including a manufacturing plant known as "The Alaskan". The community is famous for its annual 5K race held on November 5th which features a course that starts and finishes in downtown Northglenn.
In the late 1800s, Northglenn was a small farming town just east of Denver. The first post office in Northglenn was established in 1892. By 1910, the population had grown to over 500 residents. In 1925, Northglenn became an incorporated city and continued to grow until it reached its current size in 1960.
