The Parker Air Force Base Historical Museum preserves the history of airforce gift giving in the Parker area. The museum contains artifacts from both the USAF and local citizens, as well as a library with over 100 items on military gifts and service members. One of the most important aspects of USAF history is that it encompasses the time period from World War II to today. When one looks at gift giving during this time period, it can be difficult to determine which AFB contributed what amount or even what type of gift was given. However, there are a few events that stand out in USAF memory. In 1945, then-Major General Leslie Groves announced that all United StatesAAF bases would be receiving Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers. This was an incredible event for AFB Parker because it meant that they could finally begin operations against Japan! This bomber campaign ended with the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945. Everett Meeks served as Acting Chief Historian at AFParker from 1978-1981 while Director of Air Force History at Maxwell Field Georgia In 1981 Director David Ladd retired after 36 years with USAF and became Deputy Chief Historian for Historykeeping Services Headquarters Command USAFE Washington D C National Park Service Mr Ladd will continue his stewardship within HQUSAF until his death in February 2007

Parker is a small town in the Mountain West region of Colorado, United States. The population was 3,476 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Parker was John C. Farnsworth who founded a farm on the site in 1876. The town was named for him and his son Alonzo P. Parker (1868–1940). A post office called Farnsworthville was established in 1879, but it was discontinued in 1884. Parker incorporated as a village on November 15, 1912. In 1960, Parker became home to Rocky Mountain Power's Rocky Mountain Electric Generating Station after it was transferred from Telluride, Colorado to Aurora Municipal Services Corporation (AMS). In 1984, AMS merged withDenver-Aurora-Lakewood to form Denver-Aurora-Municipal Services District No. 6 (DAMSD6). With its new headquarters on Cherry Creek Drive near Parkview Elementary School and other offices across Orchard Road from Glenarm High School and Northglen Middle School, DAMSD6 became one of the most comprehensive municipal services districts in Colorado with over $1 billion in annual budgeted expenditures and over 300 employees statewide

In 1957, the United States Air Force unveiled a new aircraft – the A-10 Warthog. This attack helicopter was designed as an all-weather and long-range battlefield support system for ground forces. The plane was quickly becoming known as one of the most versatile and advanced aircraft in the USAF inventory. The gift history of the A-10 Warthog is reflective of this popularity and success. The first A-10 Warthog model was gifted to the USAF on December 1, 1957. It entered service with the USAF on October 3, 1959. Between 1957 and 1959, over 400 A-10 Warthogs were given to participating units across the country. These planes served throughout Operation Desert Storm in 1990s Iraq and Afghanistan during two wars with significant missions flown by these helicopters including suppression of enemy fire while performing close air support operations; search and rescue; MEDEVAC; disaster relief; etc.
Parker is a small town in the San Juan County seat of Arapahoe County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,847 at the 2010 census. The Parker post office opened in 1879 and operated until it was discontinued in 1918. The first settler in what would become Parker was a man named George Withers who arrived there on July 6, 1879. He built a cabin on the east side of the Arapaho River. In 1881, Job Wellman opened a store in Parker and became the town's first mayor. For many years, Parker relied exclusively upon agriculture for its sustenance; however, with the development of oil production within commuting distance from town and growth of tourism around Parkers', early industry began to thrive. By 1922, when Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad reached town,Parker had developed into one of Colorados most important agricultural towns with more than 100 businesses employing over 2200 residents during that time period In 1923 he married Jessie Mae Barnes (1884-1967), daughter of John Barnes (1846-1920) and his second wife Jennie Crouse (1853-1930). They had two children: daughter Pamela (1924-2005) and son Jay (1926-2004). After World War II ended there were steady increases in industry as parkers grew increasingly educated thanks to new technology which generated jobs right near their homes including aircraft manufacturing plants such as McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation which helped start up local air traffic control towers across from downtown
According to the Colorado Historical Society, in 1876, Parker was named after Capt. John A. Parker of the 1st Regiment Colorado Volunteers who had died in a skirmish with Apache Indians two years earlier. The town was first established as a post office on July 8, 1876 under the name of Fort Collins. On November 6, 1886, it changed its name to Parker and remained that way until 1907 when it became an incorporated town. In 1917, the population of what is now Parker reached 3,000 and by 1950 it had grown to over 10,000 people.
