Parker is a town in Colorado Springs, United States. The population was 23,964 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in localized Canon City County. The Parker area was first settled by Latter-day Saints in 1859, and was named for Elder John A. Parker of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles who had helped to establish the church in Oregon. The first school in what is now Parker was founded in 1865 by Brigham Young's group of Mormons west of present day Denver as an elementary school known as Pioneer School. In 1872, when Stephen Fenton became territorial governor of Colorado, he designated Parkers Creek as the new hometown of newly appointed Territorial Governor James Hutton. During World War II many businesses were located here including Frigidaire (now induction steel manufacturer), Ford Motor Company and Kaiser Permanente HealthCare System which operated out of its downtown building until it moved to North Park Plaza across from Interstate 25 near Union Station during the late 1990s when that complex was demolished to make way for a new shopping mall which opened in 2009 and today houses numerous stores such as Macy's and Sears along with a number of high-rise apartment buildings used by HP, Costco and Marriott among others

Parker, Colorado is a small town located in Routt County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Parker area was first settled by farmers in the late 1800s. A post office was established in 1909 and named for John L. Parker, an early settler. In 1915, Parkers added the word "Colorado" to their name and began operating as a city. The city was incorporated on November 6, 1928. During World War II, Parker served as the site of several airfields used by the USAAF during the war effort. One such airfield was known as Gilpin Air Force Base until it closed in 1945; Parkers remained its primary airport until 1964 when Grand Junction took over that role. In 1955, Parkers became home to one of America's first TRUE college towns with University of Colorado-Boulder (UCO-B) opening its doors there that year; UCO-B would remain an integral part of Parker for over 60 years until it merged with CU Boulder in 2012 to form CU Boulder–University of Denver (UCD). In recent years parker has experienced significant redevelopment along main Street It all started back in 1951 when my grandparents married Roy and Mildred Henschel who had come from Meadville, PA They started a small grocery store called The General Store on Main Street which soon grew into what today is known as Kwik Shop #5 LLC which now operates out of 8 different stores throughout western Colorado Some might say this revitalization has taken place too fast but I believe it's because our local community is supportive and vested in keeping things alive With so much history here we want to make sure that everyone knows about it through events like parade etc
