By 1930, there were more than 500 residents in Parkers small community! At this point, much of the development within parker occurred outside of the boundaries of the originaltown limits – making it one of Colorado’s earliest municipally run towns! By 1940,Parker had become one of Colorado’s most prosperous communities with a population of 2,500 residents! During World War II, many local companies supplied materials to military construction projects throughout Colorado including Parker; among these manufacturers were Lockheed Martin (now Lockheed Martin Space) and Raytheon (now Boeing). After America's victory in World War II, many veterans decided to move back into what had once been their former homes rather than leave for greener pastures elsewhere postwar – this trend continued into the 1960s whenriverside subdivisions bloomed along I-25 east of downtown Parkers limits! Although many people left Parkers during this time period for greener pastures elsewhere within Colorado or beyond – some notable exceptions remain such as ranchers who owned large tracts of land near downtown PARKER] Today there are only a few buildings remnant from old days whenParker boasted an impressive 3 square miles on both sides !
Parker was founded in 1876 by two men, George W. and John C. Parker. The town grew rapidly after it was given a post office in 1881. The first store opened in 1883, and the first school was built in 1886. By 1912, Parker had a population of over 200 people. In 1916, the city council voted to name the town for General George Armstrong Custer because of his role in the battle of Little Bighorn.
