Parker is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver–Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Parker post office was established in 1892, and remained in operation until it closed on November 15, 2006. The first settler in Parker was James Fenton who platted the area around what is now Parker on May 10th, 1868. The name of the town has beenchanged multiple times throughout its history including "Fenton", "Pine Ridge", and finally to "Parker". It wasn't until 1898 when an act of Congress named a township after General John J. Pershing which included much of today's Weld County. A new courthouse and jail were built in 1907 by local contractor George Hildebrandt with material from quarries east of Golden that had been leased by Senator Charles Evans Hughes for his new airport. In 1916 David Dominguez settled near present day Parkers Creek which would later become known as Chavez Ravine due to his cattle ranch just west of Parkers Creek. In 1928 Ethel Brewer bought Chavez Ravine from David Dominguez and renamed it Powell Ranch after her father General Harry Powell who served as Commandant/General Superintendent of Military Police for Colorado during World War I In 1941 Navajo Indian fighter Red Cloud attacked Pueblo while most people were attending church services; most casualties resulted from friendly Apache Native Americans who fought back against German forces besieging Pueblo rather than return to their homes without fighting

The first humans to live in Parker arrived around 1885 when they founded the town on land that now includes much of north Parkland neighborhood. The name "Parker" was given to the location by A.D. Sweeting and others who surveyed the area for a railroad line through which travelers could access new lands east of Fort Collins. The townsite was platied in 1902 by Wm Hargrave and Jno Matson; it became an incorporated municipality on December 15, 1903 under the name of North Park City. In 1912, Parker voters passed a resolution recognizing Aurora as their "metropolitan center." That year saw other important changes within its walls: residents voted to install electric lights and water systems in their town hall; parklands were purchased for $5 per acre from local ranchers; and a library was established with funds donated by Mrs. Clements (later Mrs Justice Stone). In 1916, Parker's first post office opened with mail from Aurora andDenver . In 1958, following passage of Amendment 64 which limited property rights for marijuana growers near schools and playgrounds in Colorado Springs Municipal District No 2 (), Parker elected its firstlderwoman barbara wilkinson as mayor with support from then-mayor Wellington Webb (). On August 3rd 1961 Mayor Wilkinson announced that she would not seek re-election due to health reasons.; however her successor ronald bennett had already announced his candidacy two days earlier so no one filed to replace her
Parker was founded in 1876 by John Parker and his wife, Anna. The town was named for John's older brother, James A. Parker. The first post office in the town was established in 1877. In 1887, the town passed a resolution declaring that it would be "a city" within five years. In 1889, the city charter was adopted and Parker became a part of the Denver metropolitan area
