From the early days of Colorado statehood until the present, national guard gift history has been an important and cherished tradition in Parker, Colorado. The Parker National Guard was originally organized on February 14, 1876 as a voluntary volunteer militia to provide law and order during the Gold Rush years. Over time, the Parker National Guard has grown into one of the most powerful and respected organizations in the state. Today, the Parker National Guard is composed of over 1,500 soldiers and civilians who serve our community proudly. From providing security for local events toHosting annual dinner dances for local civic groups, the Parker National Guard has always been committed to making a positive impact on its surrounding communities. In addition to its many accomplishments within our community, we are also proud members of numerous patriotic organizations throughout Colorado including The American Legion (Colorado), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Kiwanis Club (Parker), and Rotary Clubs (Parker). These affiliations have allowed us to support countless local causes throughout our state while maintaining a strong brotherhood/ sisters relationship with our fellow Guardsmen and women. We would like to thank all those who have helped make this organization such an important part of our community – from past members who have donated their time and effort over generations to current volunteers who continue to contribute their time and talent every day! We can only imagine what future success will bring for us as we keep Our Parkers safe while they enjoy their freedom!

The Parker National Guard was activated on October 1, 1912. The first commander of the unit was Major John W. Fordham. The battalion was named the 2nd Battalion Colorado Volunteer Infantry Regiment and served in World War I as part of the 9th Infantry Division. After the war, the battalion deployed to Europe in 1919 as part of occupation duty and fought in the Belgian Congo and Spanish Morocco. In 1927, it became a regiment within the Colorado National Guard and participated in national defensive exercises during Hoovervilles Congressional Session. In 1932, Major Edward Payson organized a detachment from Headquarters Company (the 3rd Battalion) for use as an air defense unit at Fort Carson Air Force Base near Denver. Eventually this detachment became known as Squadron Fourteen (four flights). In 1941, when World War II began, Squadron Fourteen was re-activated with new headquarters at Crestline Army Air Field northwest of Denver and assigned to NinthTexas Divisional Air Defense Command under First Corps Area Commander General James Gavin Jr.. With activation came increased responsibilities due to Nazi Germany's expansion into Europe through Operation Barbarossa which caused unprecedented numbers of air threats against Western nations. This raised concerns about potential enemy use of airspace over Colorado Springs which led to establishment of squadron headquarters here permanently on October 25th 1942 with flying operations being conducted out of three runways based on weather reports available at that time: 1525 feet MSL for instrument flying; 3000 feet MSL for fighter flying; and 1800 feet MSL for bomber flying only). Aircraft included Boeing B-17s/16s built by Boeing Wichita Corporation under contract with TenthArmy Air Forces Northwest (TAF NW),equipped with Wright R-2600 Twin Otter ground equipment along with Curtiss JN-4W Skyjets night bombers carrying conventional bombs or incendiary bombs on wingtip tanks capable of reaching up to 80 miles per hour! On December 5th 1942 Squadron Fourteen engaged German Luftwaffe aircraft over southern England while other squadrons were providing cover for amphibious landings commanded by Lieutenant General George Patton Jr.. The engagement resulted in five kills including two Junkers Ju 88s shot down while roaming free over England!!! On May 8th 1945 Squadron Fourteen moved its operations to Solitude Army Airfield northeast of Aspen after ThirteenthAir Force relocated there from Golden Gate Airport California following Japan's surrender . Operations continued until November 24th 1945 when all units returned home following hostilities ending with Japan's capitulation
Parker is a small town in Weld County, Colorado. The population was 1,564 at the 2000 census. It lies on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains and is close to the New Mexico border. The first settler in Parker was John A. Parker who arrived in 1859. He named his land "Parker" after himself and donated it to the state of Colorado in 1865. The town was incorporated on February 8, 1886. The original post office was located in what is now part of downtown Parker. On July 6, 1907, a fire destroyed most of downtown Parkers water system and forced the closure of most businesses for two days. In 1912, an oil well went dry up near Parker and produced no oil until 1973 when drilling began again on that property by Encana Corporation.. In 1978-79, another well became dry because it had been over-flowing from previous years’ production from ancient wells drilled there by Anadarko Petroleum Company which had leased land from ranchers thereabouts for development into an ethanol refinery/petroleum storage area known as "Anadarko Field". As production increased from both wells (and others) during this time period so did water usage leading to long term protests against ever using more than 5 acre feet per day (Afd) available annually out of 320 Afd currently allotted statewide; this led finally to new rules put into effect effective January 1st 1980 limiting water use thereafter within city limits only to 3 afd or less annual usage without first getting written consent otherwise... This has since continued with very little change however as final authority still resides with City Manager Lewis who can veto ordinances passed by City Council should they be determined as harmful to public convenience or welfare

Parker is a small town in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located on the San Miguel River, east of Aspen and north of Denver. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. Parker was named after John A. Parker, an early settler and namesake of Aspen Park Township. The first European to visit what is now Parker were two Frenchmen, Pierre-André Couette and François de la Salle, who ascended the river in 1764 as part of a fur trade expedition led by Jean-Baptiste de Montcalm. They named the area "Canada" for Governor John A. Macdonald of Canada's Department of North America when they reached its mouth on July 3, 1764. In 1819, James McDowell discovered gold near what is now Parker on November 15th while exploring for New Mexico Territory under United States President James Kahl during his ill-fated Mission Santa Fe Expedition; little else was known about the area until he found it again in 1824 while mapping new territory for Mexico following US annexation of that country following Mexican War (1846–48). On May 6, 1825 US General Andrew Jackson arrived at Mcpherson's Ferry just south of present day Parkersburg to attack Mexican forces commanded by Colonel Vicente Guerrero y Costilla under orders from Antonio López de Santa Anna y Navarro who had recently taken control over Mexico City from Emperor Pedro II due to popular opposition and civil unrestrained military dictatorship preceding Mexican Revolution (February 16 December 19 Ortega & Zapata 1847). This event formalized US ownership over all that would become Colorado after then Territory Captain George Hickenlooper reported finding gold nearby on October 14th 1824 while prospecting for land comprising presentday Aspen and Parker townships in east San Miguel County with accompanying water rights which he granted to local beneficiaries./Although no actual gold was found until 1865 when Chinese miners discovered rich deposits at Golden Spike (), this event has been seen as one of the earliest major discoveries in Colorado history.–Prior to 1860 most settlers were farmers or ranchers who operated subsistence ranches which included hunting/gathering resources as well as raising livestock including sheep/goats/cows etc., not mining operations.–As early as 1861 some residents began building mills powered by water power obtained from Canigawa Creek which flowed through their township.–In 1863 Union Pacific Railroad extended its main line west through parkland adjoining Aspen railroad yards crossing Canigawa Creek just south of town center creating a self-contained community surrounded by rapids.–By 1870 most businesses had closed down due to lack demand from war veterans being discharged home or seeking more direct access to goods available elsewhere.–In 1870s also large numbers of Mexicans arrived fleeing poverty and violence back inside Mexico – many settling within Inyo County adjacent to modern day Porter Ranch where today’s downtown Los Angeles lies
Parker was founded in 1871 by George and Clara Parker. The town was named after Samuel Augustus Parker, the founder of the Parker Brothers cigar company. In 1915, the town had a population of just over 100 people. The following year, itxton post office was established in the town and continued to serve until it closed in 1955.
