The Pueblo Coast Guard was established on July 1, 1916 as the “Pueblo Municipal Coast Guard.” The first officer in charge of the coast guard was Capt. John H. Weldon. He was replaced by Capt. Edward Kapp and Lt. George W. Dutton on September 1, 1916. On December 3, 1916, Pueblo’s first fireboat (Farmedale) was acquired from Denver City Harbor Department by the Pueblo Municipal Coast Guard as part of a state-of-the-art fleet of fireboats that included ten vessels and two tugboats (Cimarron Bay and First Colorado). The patrol boats were manned by City sailors and supplemented by Marines from Fort Lewis during wartime when military service was mandatory for all citizens of the city. By 1922, there were six coast guard stations located at various points along the Front Range: one each at genoa point on I-25 near Cheyenne, at Asotin Creek near Kipling Park in Centennial Hills, at Rifle Point on US 6 just south of Sandia Springs, at Coyote Lake in Cave Junction, and finally two locations ashore – boat launch area off US 9 south of Canon City and tanker landing area north of Alamosa Springs which served as storage depot for coastal fishing vessels coming into or leaving Pueblo Harbor during open water seasons when there would be no marina available within miles for docking commercial Craft entering or departing town limits without paying a fee to use either location; these anchorage sites continued to be used until 1966 when they were eliminated due to lack of space in local harbormen’s stores/equipped facilities.. In 1936 an addition to the Coast Guard station system was built with a small harbor adjacent to old army barracks property bordered by North 5th Avenue on the east side and Pearl Street on the west side which became known as Harborside Landing after then Mayor Harry Ahern funded its construction with an option to purchase additional land if desired.. On November 15th 1937 Captain Emmett Jorgensen relieved Captains Edward Kapp & George W Dutton from duty while he took command of Station #1 located just outside Pueblo proper east bank river mouth between Asotin Creek & Coyote Lake .. Captain Jorgensen remained until his retirement effective January 1st 1938 .. At this time Station #1 consisted only of 2 enlisted men who manned tho boathouse while Squadron Headquarters moved ashore .. Harborside Landing reverted back to Coast Guards station status effective February 14th 1938 with new name Anchor Bay Marina.. Anchor Bay Marina continued in operation until 1966 when it closed because there wasn't enough storage space aboard department store lighters In 1935 Sergeant Charles Fenton assumed command duties at Port Aransas Naval Shipyard where he operated patrol boats moored off shore during low tide providing security for shipyards workers loading supplies onto warships docked alongside Harborside Landing while Battleship Colorado anchored offshore.. Sgt Fenton also acted as interim commander duringPort Aransas World War II shortages caused by Navy's conversion from coal burning freighters into oil tankers (Hancock class) . In 1946 SSgt Fenton retired after more than 20 years service .. During WWII Patrol Boat#5 patrolled Anacapa Island off San Diego County searching for Japanese Imperial Japanese Army forces holed up inside USS Arizona . Patrol Boat#6 patrolled Anacapa Island off San Diego County searching for German submarines holed up inside USS Neumann . In 1969 Patrol Boat#7 patrolled Anacapa Island off San Diego County looking for Confederate pirates holed up inside USS Spence

Pueblo, Colorado is a small town in the US state of Colorado. It sits on the banks of the Arkansas River and is bordered by Mesa County to the north, Douglas County to the east, San Miguel County to the south, and Arapahoe County to the west. The population was 7,815 at the 2010 census. The Pueblo area has been inhabited for more than 3,000 years and today's Pueblo is one of only a few remaining Uto-Aztecan villages in North America. The first European settlers arrived in 1827 and began building what would become Pueblo. They named their new settlement after Friar Francisco Xavier de Montoya y Costilla who had died two years earlier while seeking refuge in Mexico City from Spanish forces. In 1847, General Zachary Taylor ordered all Native American residents of this area be numbered and deported; most were killed or driven off during the following year's Expedition against Apaches under Captain John Dimmick. In 1860, when Denver was founded as a city by Colonel George Crook, much of present-day Pueblo land became part of that city limits. Today many people living in downtownDenver are descendants of those who were forcibly evicted from their homes centuries ago. Pueblo experienced a period of growth during World War II due to its strategic location as an army training ground between Rocky Mountain Arsenal and Fort Carson on Interstate 25. However since then it has slowly declined with virtually no major development taking place until recently; however that may start to change with plans for a new hospital complex just outside town which will add thousands more jobs over the next few years!
