Tactical coffee first originated in Pueblo, Colorado during the early 1800s. In those days, Pueblo was a thriving city with a large population and many businesses. One of the largest businesses in town was The Coffee House, which served as a meeting place for farmers and traders from all over the area. A group of traders decided to start their own coffee business in 1812. They named their business The Coffee House because they believed that good coffee would bring trade and prosperity to their town. Over time, other business owners started opening their own coffee houses throughout Pueblo. It wasn’t until 1835 that The Coffee House became the first commercial coffee house in Denver. Over time, different groups started operating within The Coffee House. Some of these groups included miners, soldiers, businessmen, and artists. Because of this variety in membership, it was difficult for one person or organization to monopolize the market for tactical coffee. However, over time some large organizations emerged that were able to control much of the market share for tactical coffee: Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are two examples.
